Lovely setting with excellent service and top notch food. The fresh Horitaki Salad, Octopus, chicken was all very good. Nice wine selection. Prices are average. Would return.

This is slightly off the beaten track so the hipsters do not show up which is good. Very good Greek food in a nice setting. Acoustics good so you can here others. The octopus, one of their signature dishes, is excellent and can be split. The salad , which you should split as well, is excellent with good tasting tomatoes,... More

We went to Periyali for dinner and loved the place. The starters of Oktapodi sharas - red wine marinated grilled octopus, Horiatiki salata were absolutely delicious; the main course was charcoal grilled lamb chops and scallops. While I loved the scallops, the grilled lamb chops were slightly tough... The Greek red wine was exquisite and we loved the warmth and... More

I wish that I could say something nice, or clever, or witty about this place but it is so painfully average I am lost for words. Our friends made the reservation, telling us that this was their favorite Greek place in the City; we were expecting something special. The night we were there several tables were available, on a Saturday... More

On a Saturday night of a long weekend in NYC, my wife who recently had done a two week trip to Greece, chose this place and we were glad she did. The restaurant is small, tight, and a bit noisy and that's just how it should be given the type of dining. The apps were great ... 1) Grilled octopus... More

Grilled oyster mushrooms as a starter could not have been better. Rabbit stewed in tomato with red wine and pearl onions was very good, but the sauce was a bit overbearing for the lightness of the rabbit. Marinated medallions of veal was very, very good. We had no idea which of the four white wines from Santorini to choose so... More

At Periyali, it is sometimes hard to remember that one is in NYC. This past Thursday evening, I was fairly sure I had been magically transported to Greece. We met at Periyali for an early dinner on a cold and very rainy night; a night when just being out makes little sense. But Periyali makes it all worthwhile. We had... More

Stopped in for a late dinner as it was actually the only place we could get a table before 10 on a Saturday. Menu leans heavy on the seafood, but that had veal, lamb and chicken dishes. My 13 y/o had the chicken and is still raving about it. I had halibut and the others in our party had the... More

Recommended by a friend, who says it's his favorite midtown restaurant, we visited Periyali for the first time before a show. We were greeted warmly, and the service was warm and personalized throughout the meal. The dining room is quiet and the food is superb.

A quiet comfortable restaurant in downtown Manhattan, where apart from greek specialties you can eat an excellent grilled salmon or sea bass.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
