Ok,on a summer week end night this can be the loudest restaurant in the western hemisphere. Yet,it's part of the casual informal atmosphere of the whole neighborood. A beautiful townhouse, tables both at ground level and on the balcony, candle lighting, small portions to share(tapas).don't expect Fancy...More

Here for a birthday dinner. The menu has numerous choices of tapas for everyone no matter your food preferences/issues. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful with menu selections and quantities. The room was quiet, we did not need to speak with raised voices. We all...More

Dinner date at Alta and the drinks, food and service were excellent. Atmosphere and restaurant were noisy due to the structure of the building.

Often I find tapas restaurants where I land up going just for 1 or 2 things they are good at, while being ok at others. Here is a place that has a rather diverse menu and yet manages to do justice to so many of...More

Great Tapas style restaurant with Multiple floors and homey ambiance. The food was phenomenal! The servers were very knowledgeable and attentive. I would say get about 3-4 dishes per person as these are smaller plates. Highly recommend!

Not bad but just lacked something special. Friendly staff and nice settings. Shared several dishes but just didn't hit the high notes. Tapas dishes are larger than average.

It's this easy: everything is great. The food, the drinks, and especially the service. Kind of surprised to read reviews of lackluster service. Our server was personable, knowledgeable about everything on the menu, including wines, and really added to our enjoyment of the meal. We...More

There are not many good dining options in this neighborhood so I was pleased to find Alta. Among the three seating options..at the downstairs bar, downstairs dining room or upstairs balcony...I recommend the third. There are quiet tables for two around the perimeter of the...More

Alta is a very unassuming restaurant in the west village. The menu is very vegetarian-friendly, with small plates ranging from a delicious goat cheese and lavender honey appetiser, to a great falafel and roasted beets dish. The vegetarian options are vegetable heavy, but are flavourful...More

Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was
here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter
culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for
its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to
get a feel for this diverse and energetic
neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street
performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the
fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess.

It's better to make a reservation unless you'd like to come very early, around 6. But it's not a big deal, normally the same day or day before would work.
