Love this pizza joint. I have had mushroom pep, as well as the sausage roll. Everything is excellent. Not a lot of room to sit down, but no matter.

Went with three other adults and we were all very happy with our dinners. One of us had what she said was the best lasagne she'd ever had, and the rest of us agreed after snatching a bite. Another had a pizza with sausage, pepperoni, onion, and peppers and it was marvellous, nice charred crust and delicious sauce and toppings.... More

Very small restaurant with a few tables on the side walk that were filled so we ate inside. The bread was stale. Wine list was sufficient until everyone we ordered (4 different ones) were not in stock and house wine was really bad! Waitress did not know the specials and went to find out - twice??? Still unable to tell... More

Waitress/hostess very rude! Fried calamari very greasy, rubbery. Seafood ravioli with vodka sauce was greasy, shrimp overcooked, ravioli tough. Veal milanese burnt smothered in red onions and grape tomatoes, extremely salty. Worst calzone - tasted frozen.

Out of all the great italian restaurants in NYC,Il Mattone is in my top 3 for pasta (and the other two places are twice as expensive). I used to live near there and we got their food delivered all the time. At some point, i actually went there and was pretty nice. Small and cozy. Its been kind of quiet... More

Good Italian place, cozy and warm. Great seafood scampi and fantastic artichokes salads and grilled portobello. Try their seafood seems like a better idea in my recent trips. Big portion, however, authentic is one of its weakness.

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighbourhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.
