We are here last night for the 2nd time. This time it was for dinner. Last time for brunch. The food is excellent. The menu is short but super choices. They have specials but ran out by 7:30 pm. The service was OK but not great. I would recommend if you are in the area. You might meet reservations at... More

We came after reading the Town & Country Magazine's rave review. We were not disappointed. Our meal was fabulous, reasonably priced, great wine list. Wine prices very fair. Gorgeous decor. Romantic. Good wait staff. Put this at the top of your dining list!!! Best Brussels sprouts I've ever eaten too...!

On Thursday 15th December I dropped by this restaurant randomly. Now I am impressed by the reviews below because I had a good experience. I've got the ribs with smashed potatoes and it was a fast cook and I would say one of the best dinner I had in NYC. For dessert I had creme brulee. I would strongly recommend... More

We were disappointed by the food and the service . We waited more than half an hour after ordering our food and it was not great ! Too bad because it's a cute little restaurant!

Went there for a business lunch, I had the breaded chicken sandwich, my colleague the cobb salad. She raved, my sandwich decent (a bit too much breading). The atmosphere good, well decorated, good volume for talking. Service was pretty poor, however, and it wasn't that busy. Maybe a one-off thing, will give it another shot.

This is a very popular restaurant with a nice French/American cafe cuisine. It gets a little noisy as the night progresses, but not oppressively so. The waitstaff is good but not super. The food has a lot of fun options but is somewhat pricey. I wasn't thrilled by the cocktail menu but they made a good martini.

Maybe it was just an off night but we were entertaining "foodies" from out of town and our experience at August was so disappointing. The décor was fresh and the staff were energetic but the food was truly disappointing. Tiny, tasteless mussels should have been the indicator of embarrassingly thin filets of branzino that came out of the kitchen lukewarm.... More

Delicious green salad and the best Nicoise salad I ever had in my life (anchovies, seared slices of tuna) in a slightly upscale utilitarian space and good UES-style service.

The food is always delicious and dependable. The service is impeccable. The staff is accommodating. And the decor is cozy and charming. The perfect neighborhood restaurant that you can always rely on for a wonderful experience. .

Description
Located at 791 Lexington Avenue (between 61st and 62nd Streets), August is a charming respite amid the hustle of Midtown Manhattan. Fans of the longtime Bleecker Street location, which closed earlier this year, can continue to enjoy Chef Josh Eden's eclectic takes on classic comfort food. Mussels steamed with lemon beer broth and kale, Roasted Squash Ravioli, and Braised Short Ribs with Honey Sriracha Brussels Sprouts are a few of the iconic August dishes served at the uptown location, along with inventive new entrees like Cauliflower Risotto made with white chocolate. The wood and velvet chairs at the bar give guests a perfect vantage point of the cool and sophisticated decor while enjoying an expertly executed cocktails from a rotating list.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
