Although we used to dine here on occasion, we made the mistake of returning. Not only is the menu limited, but the preparation is mediocre. For example, the pasta with seafood was pedestrian. The pricing is outlandish, even for New York. The waiter was on the condescending side. They now have a liquor license, but that does not mean they... More

What part of Italy is this restaurant from? Overdone vegetables with butter not olive oil, gloopy salads, fishy fish, almost undrinkable wines by the glass. Italian speaking waiters, very friendly from Ecuador. More New York cuisine than Italian but dated and bland. Maybe just what the older clientele wants.

The ceiling in Sette Mezzo is low, and with the super dense arrangement of tables one cannot hear oneself chewing, let alone talk to your partner. We started with Caesar salad and polenta with lamb sauce and continued with fish (bronzino) and an egg-plant with tomato sauce and parmiggiano cheese. The food was tasty, but a $100 bottle of wine... The best italian restaurant in NYC would be the right definition. Cosy, friendly family place. Mostly same faces around, very high scale New Yorkers. Owners and the staff are friends with most of the custumers because everybody has to have a personal account with them to pay the bill. They dont accept credit cards, either cash or you have a... I went about a week ago and saw one of my favorite waiters, K. He introduced me to another favorite waiter of mine Marian. Marian is a great man who should be famous. He was great and awesome.

I have been here many many times. Its owned by the same people as Vico at 92nd and Madison. Its a place where many celebrities go. Its a little noisy and lunch s generally for ladies who lunch-BUT the food and service are excellent. The best dishes are not on the menu-Paste Bolognese its the same Bolognese as Vico and... More

This is a quality restaurant with true Italian cuisine - not "nouvelle" - the owners are there, the service is excellent, reservations required, they treat everyone well. I've read some of the reviews that seem to harp on "cash only" - it is "cash only" or house charge. The food is not impacted by not taking credit cards! I've had... More

Friendly environment. Nice atmosphere. Small place but really cozy and beautiful ! The owners are always around and they are very polite. The waiters are very polite and helpful. The menu is small but they can prepare what you want if they have the ingredients. They only accept cash so bring with you $$$$ Good wine !

I went there with my mom and grandfather. We walk in with a great welcoming. I was so amazed. All the waiters were there after they closed the let us in. I loved it! We met a great waiter named Koceila! He was great. I talked to him. I loved it and it was amazing!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
