We had wonderful tarts for appetizers. My beef stew was so tender and delicious -- the wine sauce was the best. Most in our party loved the trout and a grilled duck special was also terrific. Did not get to try desserts, which looked good but cost a fortune.

Hard to characterize but very French! Just wonderful! From duck rillette to house salad with excellent dressing to duck breast cooked exactly right to finishing dessert with nice sauternes and port. Good choices for red wines. Highly recommended.

We were a large party on a busy Friday night. The service was very helpful and professional. This was the first time most of us had been to the restaurant and the two in the party who had been previously had only been once. Everyone was impressed by the food. Main dishes were shared as each person was sure they... More

Lived here for almost 4 years, but somehow our first visit. Decor: very nice indeed, and quite bright which makes a very welcome change. Staff: very forthright lady was Maitre'D, but she handled a busy Saturday night very well. Our waiter was excellent. Bartender just ok. Food: very authentic and enjoyable. Had chicken livers with bacon + seafood sausage to... More

The food is overpriced for what it is, used to be consistent and very good. I had two bad experiences this year. With both food and waiter, completely rude and unprofessional. Spilling red wine down the bottle and on the table as he poured sloppily.. I ordered the salmon with frites, the order took forever to be served. The salmon... More

I know it sounds cynical but every time a restaurant closes for a "temporary" period of time we take it for granted they won't reopen. Quatorze had a fire recently and I thought that I liked that place. Sorry to see it go. Well, it is back. And I am delighted that it still retains its charm and quality. Delightful... More

Located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, this friendly and elegant bistro serves the BEST FRENCH FRIES in the city! Their salads are wonderful; especially the ones with goat cheese or friseé and their roast chicken, grilled salmon and Chou crout Garni are excellent. The pate is lovely and the fennel sausage, amazing - when available. Figs (in season)... More

We had great service from Diego. He made our evening special. Recommendations were on point and not always the highest price items. Stuffed chicken was a special and had wonderful flavor. The steak and frits were done exactly as ordered. The accompanying sauce needed work. House salad with goat cheese was ok but nothing special. The asparagus appitizer was very... More

My family eats at Quatorze Bis at least once a month and it is consistently great. The menu is limited but true to its French Bistro Roots. You consistently see the same people in the restaurant and is an obvious favorite of locals. I've eaten Duck Confit all over NYC and theirs is the best by far.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
