The service at this neighborhood Italian restaurant is spot on. The Thai waiter has been there since two years before the place opened in 1984 and you can tell he enjoys his job. Buffalina pizza was enjoyable as was the mezzaluna salad and the pasta. The chocolate affogato was welcome comfort food along with the complimentary taste of tiramisu.

After attending the "Mikado", I stopped by during a pretty strong snow storm for a bowl of soup. The restaurant continues to be beautiful, with a large collection of mezzaluna paintings on the wall, attentive and helpful service, and excellent cleanliness in the men's room. The menu looks very inviting, and I plan to stop by again for a bigger meal.

My family and I first went to Mezzaluna when it first opened in 1984. The space is tight and could get cramped if sold out. My dad and I had dinner this past week, and I got to meet the manager and owner as my dad is a regular to the upper east side location. The Moretti beer was so... More

We haven't eaten here since we moved overseas and away from the upper east side in 06. This first visit since then was not disappointing. The pizza was just as good. The pasta and seafood were also as we remembered. We're glad we made the visit back.

Walked in.... "Take a seat" Took a seat. Waited Waited Waited No one came. Period. No water. No menu. Others came in. They got water....and were graced with menus. We really didn't care about the water. We cared about a menu. But we got neither. So we walked. Walked a block over to Zuccero Pomodoro. Had a great lunch.

This is a bit of a "sleeper" restaurant. It looks unassuming from the outside and the decor inside is casual and a bit busy if you ask me, but the pizza is among the best on the UES. Their salads are worth a try too. On the pricey side for a casual restaurant, but the quality is so worth it.... More

You are kidding yourself if you call yourself an Italian food fan and don't go to this place. It is a fabulous, family, neighborhood eating place that is clearly a great place to enjoy classic Italian. The pizza is superb and the pasta is out of the world!! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you cannot be wrong when... More

I finally decided, after a number of years in the upper east side to try this small, congenial restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the good service and the tasty food. The pork chops were excellent and so was the mozzarella and tomato salad. Am happy to have discovered this neighborhood restaurant and both my wife and I plan to... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
