My fav place for Soba, i think it’s easy for a quick lunch. My favorite part was when i walked in & there was someone doing the soba noodle in front. It seems cute

This is an extremely popular dining spot near NYU, so making a reservation is important unless you like to wait. When you're looking for the restaurant note the name is Soba-ya, not one word like it's listed here. Wait staff is very nice, we got...More

We were seated at the bar, which was quite nice because we got to see parts of our meal prepared and interact with out waitress. We started with a trio of vegetable dishes (Japanese sweet potato; pumpkin with mushrooms; eggplant) which were all tasty and...More

I’m a bit of a latecomer to Japanese food but I’m converted. Where to find another restaurant as good as this though. We were visitors from Melbourne and Sobaya was my dining highlight after 13 days of eating and drinking our way through Manhattan. Momofuku...More

The decor was similar to restaurants in Japan. The seafood salad was excellent, and not that artificially colored bright green junk that is often served in Japanese restaurants here in the US. The tatsuta age (fried chicken) was great. I didn't have the noodles, but...More

A great place for lunch, especially if you work in the neighborhood. Enjoy a clean setting ambience with comfort Japanese food to perk you up before you go back to work.

East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village,
which offers plenty of unique small businesses
catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college
students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the
old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still
experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned
shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of
the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to
