Based on the reviews booked a table and had high expectations. The starter with scallops did meet those expectations, however the rest of the experience was extremely disappointing for 3 reasons: 1. It was too dark. We needed to use the candles or light from our phones to read the menu. 2. It was relatively cold and drafty. 3. Worst... More

Our food was bad - not just presentation but also bad tasting. Our server was vague and didn't accept the 1 concern that we shared with her over our food - which was inedible. This is my second visit here - the first time I didn't see what the fuss was about the restaurant and I won't be going again.

It's been a while since I have been here but we came after my concert. They kindly seated us even though our entire party was not there. Cocktails were delicious and boozy. Our favorite dishes were the scallops and the chestnut soup. Great romantic scenery as before.

The expectation of a Michelin rated restaurant set us up for a let down. Additionally, the menu leaned heavily vegan and pescatarian. Perhaps this was what was on the menu for a Friday evening. More disappointing than the food items were the drinks. $15+ per cocktail which were 2-4 ounces poured over large square ice cubes. The only memorable portions... More

We were 5 having dinner at this restaurant that it is located in an old school building. Even though it was too noisy at the beginning because of the music too loud, the experience overall was excellent. Michael, the waiter, did a great job dealing with us. Food was excellent as well as the presentation. For a big restaurant as... More

I visited Public a few years ago and liked it very much. That's why I was so disappointed this time. The biggest issue was the loud (and bad tropical house) music. We had to shout to each other. Just like all the other guests had to = sound mayhem. The food was not on Michelin star level. We chose the... More

After a perfect dinner the Public staff told us the that the restaurant will be closed starting June 2017. The landlord will build an appartment building at this location. I hope the Michelin star will be moved to a new location.

Not a lot on the menu, so if you plan to eat dont be so excited. It does serve some basic stuff, we like the impossible burger. Thought nothing impossible about it, at first we thought a 18$ burger named impossible would be like the heart attack burger. Nothing close to it, this burger is medium but very tasty. Loads... Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Nolita
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
