We went with a group of 11 and they were able to easily accommodate us all. Lively, fast service and friendly staff. The food was DELICIOUS! Pizza, lasagna, soup, the special of the day, fettucini, veal, eggplant...all was ordered at our table and met with rave reviews. The garlic bread....mmmm. Great prices and large portions. We left in a carb... More

Happened along this gem this cold day while visiting Little Italy. Good food good prices and we're lucky enough to be here for a singalong with Jorge Buccio. Must visit for family and friends.

This place is great to go with a group of people. Two years ago, we went here to celebrate my husband & sister-in-law's 50th birthday with my siblings and our 20 something y.o. kids. The kids are still talking about it. When you go with a group, it's a set menu. It's a little expensive but well worth it! We... More

It was very disappointed to be turned away for a party of 4. Apparently half of the restaurant was a private party, however they had about 3 tables for walk ins and one of the 3 tables was empty which probably sat 8 people. We had walked like 5 blocks in the rain and we were looking forward to a... More

Sorry to hear you could not get a table at Puglia. Please understand that even if tables look empty we can't seat guests if we have reservations arriving. What day did you come in? We would hope you understand if you made a reservation weeks in advance you wouldn't want anyone to take your table. We have no reason to... More

Very average Italian. The waiter didn't speak English well at all and we struggled to order. The red wine arrived absolutely freezing cold which was strange but that was trumped by the very weird entertainment, a guy called Jorge very loudly playing his keyboard and "singing". Was so loud you couldn't actually talk. Then he came round at the end... More

Am simply shocked this restaurant tries to pass themselves off as authentic, traditional Italian - it is only appropriate for the university age "all you can drink" crowd that can't boil pasta themselves. I have been to countless Italian restaurants throughout NY and Puglia may actually be the worst (even inferior to $1 pizza places). Regarding the food, the best... More

Was out and about in crazy Chinatown and fell upon this charming spot. We enjoyed a super lunch (3 course) for $10.50. The food was great - warm garlic bread, followed by soup of the day, on this particular day a delicious Minestrone and a huge chicken salad. Lunch also came with a nice glass of red, although I declined... More

Went here after a busy day of walking so we were pretty exhausted. We had picked this restaurant based on history and menu prior to arriving and we were not disappointed. The food came out so quickly and was so good. The sangria was amazing. The owner came out to talk to us before we left and was so friendly.... More

As others have said, great fix price lunch menu with nice portions, soup or salad and garlic bread, even had complementary glass of wine on Wednesdays. We had a party of 6 with 2 kids and everyone enjoyed their entree. While we were tourists we are used to authentic Italian and while the restaurant was mostly filled w/ tourists and... More

Description
n 1919 Gregorio Garofalo came over from Italy to begin his American dream...
He rented a basement, put in his coal stoves, and sprinkled saw dust on the floor. With his knowledge of creating homemade wines, and his passion for cooking, Gregorio's dream began....

The name ..."Puglia" is a region in Southern Italy from which he immigrated.
People came from far to indulge in the delicacies Gregorio prepared; Capuzzello (sheepshead), Tripe (the lining of the stomach of a young ox), and Pasta E Fagioli (pasta and beans), but what they loved the most was the way he treated everyone like his own family.

Today with his 3rd generation carrying on the recipes and the values he taught them,
Gregorio is smiling....
All of us at Puglia thank you for making Gregorio's dream a reality.

Buona Sera

Staying in Little Italy

Neighbourhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
