I went to a few Steakhouses in South Africa which I had very good memories of. However, diner at Keens was of another level: - The atmosphere was chic and pleasant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, you feel transported back in time. - The food was delicious, succulent: we got some appetizers from the house which were so good. The.... More

This place was very highly rated among various websites, but I fail to see why. It's very stuffy and old; I know that's part of the charm, but I felt as if we were the youngest people in the place by about 30 years, which is not a good thing. The tables are right on top of each other, so... More

Wow, that basically sums up our experience in Keens Steakhouse, Great Food, Great Service, great Atmosphere. From the moment we arrived for pre dinner drinks to one of the best steaks we have ever had, the Porterhouse Staff for 2 was amazing and great value and there was so much we could not even finish it. The wine recommendation was... More

A number of friends recommended we try Keens during our NYC stay and we are so glad we did, even if the credit card is still weeping! I booked before arriving in NYC via OpenTable as it does get very busy and I think booking would be essential. Hubby and I are real foodies and I am also credited with... More

New York is the culinary hub of America, with all sorts of "cutting edge" choices available to the discerning diner. But then, there are the classics. And in the 21st century, when something that's been around for less than a decade might seem like "a classic" to some, there is Keens Steakhouse, established in 1885. There is nothing "cutting edge"... More

We went here for our anniversary. I booked from the UK a while in advance. The staff were excellent when we went in and asked us to sit in the bar. We didn't wait long before the lovely waiter showed us our table. He came over with two glasses of champagne and wished us well. The food was amazing! My... More

We visited this bar, not the restaurant, 3 times on our recent trip to NYC. Simply a really comfortable bar with great friendly staff particularly the guy from South Africa. Fantastic wide range of spirits, possibly the biggest ever. Heard great things about the food.

What a lovely place. The atmosphere and the surroundings are great, add a wonderful steak, attentive staff and a nice dirty martini and heaven on earth is known as Keens. My wife and I were in NY as I was working and we had a lovely meal on Saturday evening. A friend in NY had suggested Keens and it was... More

Description
Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
