If you're near NYU Medical Center you know that there are only a few places where you can have a pleasant "restaurant" lunch without spending a lot of money. This place is one of them. They have a 2 course prix fixe that with tax and tip and a coffee will run you under $25. I had an excellent soup... More

Returned to this spot after absence of several years. Had a lovely, peaceful and unhurried meal in this low key and attractive spot with a gas fireplace. Service is professional, friendly and attentive. We both had chicken scarpariello which was boned and served with linguini. Found it perfectly cooked and well flavored with rosemary and lemon butter. The broccoli rabe... More

I had dinner with a friend at Notaro's and it was my first time visiting the restaurant though I've passed it many times. By 7 on a Tuesday night, when the only other table of guests left, we were the only patrons, so the service was pretty good but not outstanding and my veal dish was a little overdone. I... More

I've eaten here a few times and it is always ordinary. This time I ordered Baked Clams as an appitizer. The clams were baked so much, they were 5 pieces of rubber. I had Spagetti Carbonara for a main dish. This was pretty good, but not perfect. They will get their act together some day, but not yet.

We came upon this elegant Italian by chance. One feels like entering a French bistro or an Italian osteria; warm colors and subdued lighting make for an inviting atmosphere and one feels welcome; there is positive energy. We were seated by the window and enjoyed a quiet dinner of carpaccio on salad, filet of sole and veal cutlets Florentine. Everything... More

The place is very nice. A throw back from restaurants that are dimly lit with white tablecloths. Not busy at all just enough people so not to be too loud. Service was very slow. Bread was not that great.. Ordered glasses of wine. We laughed that they were stomping the grapes it took so long. wine was good, but, not... More

Bread was cold and somewhat dry. Cocktails came soon but the sangria was too sweet and looked artificially colored - did not resemble wine color in any aspect. Dishes did not taste bad but did not taste good either. Would never go back. There are so many options in NY that one does not have to visit a just average... More

Small place that you may even pass by if you didn't know it was there. Quaint and elegant decor inside - even has a fireplace. Nice menu - specials that are very reasonably priced. Wine by the glass is good. Only complaint - portions are small!!! Food is good so I would have liked more!!

The Notaro Ristorante crew is pleased and glad to hear that you were able to enjoy our atmosphere and find satisfaction in our menu and wines. I am sorry to hear about the portion's issue; certain specials , such as our Prix-Fixes, contain smaller portions than when ordered by our regular menu. Thank you for addressing your thoughts. We would... More

I used a Groupon and took my husband here for his birthday last night. The service was excellent and the staff is friendly. The owner is very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. And the food was DELICIOUS! I HIGHLY recommended this place for friends, work meetings and families. 10 stars!

For an appetize I had an old favorite Mozzarella En Carozza. They bread theirs in parmesan cheese before frying. Incredible! My main course was the Risotto del Giorno. everything was so fresh and the Italian sausage was as good as I have ever tasted. Wait staff made us feel like we were regular customers and a great wine selection.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
