My husband & I visited Manhattan for our wedding anniversary. If you love exotic delicious Indian flavors, then Dawat is the place for you! Having eaten at many Indian restaurants across USA, finding Dawat quickly rose to be our #1 favorite!

Food, service and atmosphere are all really good at this midtown (east side) restaurant. They have vegetarian, chicken and seafood choices. All of it is well-prepared and politely and promptly served. This is nice and easy dining.

Convenient to our lodging just south of Central Park. Were greeted warmly upon arrival. Plenty of room and an airy feeling, despite garden level location. Enjoyed a wide range of Indian foods. Knowledgeable servers happy to answer questions. A variety of delicious chutneys.

The dishes are great. We tried 2 started and 3 main dishes, all were delicious. The food is authentic, not too spicy (unless you want), very aromatic and fresh. Highly recommended.

Brilliant Indian cuisine; very good service; a joy. Only one possible improvement: add a non-lager beer

My first visit to the restaurant in over 20 years. Service, menu, food outstanding. Must be the best Indian restaurant in NYC. A constant stream of attentive, unobtrusive servers. A memorable Sunday afternoon lunch.

It had won lots of awards up until about 2007 (they're on the wall when you go in), but the thing that attracted us was the delicious recipe book written by the restaurant's founder. The restaurant seems like somewhere that's trying a bit too hard to be very upmarket. The naan is made fresh, you can see them do it... More

Food tastes good and service is excellent We tried onion pakoras and they were very closer what we get back in India. Mocktails can be better and are limited. Papads are very good and taste better than most other restaurants in NY. Veg Pillau, Dal fry, aloo tikkiya were good and kulfi ice cream tastes good. Ambience is quite nice,... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The food was fresh, served quickly, and was delicious. My one complaint was that the bar menu was all vodka drinks.

Service was good. Food was average! The best part was the garlic naan. The restaurant could do with a renovation.
