I don't know how any one could give this place a bad review, Have only had the pleasure of eating there 5 times, and never a bad twist on anything ordered. I just read that it has closed, this is a loss for the French Restaurant culture, as it was one of the true real French places left in The... More

My family and I have eaten in this French restaurant featuring dishes from the Perigord region several times over the past 20 years; the owner comes from that region and it is fun to discuss his home town when he has time. A recent lunch featured some excellent oysters from Fisher's Island; they sometimes import some splendid French oysters that... More

We had a wonderful meal here. It is restaurant week, and we ordered from the special discount menu. Everything was superb. Will be worth returning to at regular prices. We were in the back room, which was quieter than the front so we liked being there. For dessert we had a fruit tart and chocolate mousse, both of which came... More

My wife and I decided to go to Le Perigord for lunch. We hadn't been for years and when we were done we realized that we'd been pretty stupid for not coming more often. First off, there are few places left in NYC/the States that do classic French cuisine like this. We both had the Rognon a la moutarde after... More

Lovely service and delicious food! This place is a NYC institution, and it is clearly well loved. I am a fan of the old-fashioned and old world, and I enjoyed my special 35th anniversary lunch at Le Perigord.

Great classic French restaurant with the atmosphere being Paris along the Seine. The food is beautifully prepared and served with style and warmth by a great helpful staff. Wonderful dining room. I thought they'd be stuffy, but not at all. Friendly, helpful with the wine list. Overall a wonderful experience if you are looking for the real deal on a... More

We came here with friends to celebrate our long friendship before seeing "Beautiful". It was the perfect choice. We enjoyed a three course option and there were enough mouth-watering choices that it could have been many more. The wine recommended by our top-notch waiter was also perfect for the food chosen. We enjoyed mushroom and cheese stuffed zucchini blossoms, and... More

For more than 50 years this place has been going strong. My family dined there recently for my birthday dinner and it was perfect in every respect. My smoked salmon starter was great, followed by beef Wellington which was out of this world good. My wife had the half roast duck and loved every morsel. My children were delighted with... More

Went for the first time last night with a group, expecting it to be overpriced, stuffy, but adequate, old style, swimming in butter, French cuisine. We left the restaurant in disbelief about how terrible/inedible the food was. Some details: the bread was tasteless and stale; 'squash blossoms' were stuffed with something mysterious and swimming in brown gravy; 'escargots in hazelnut... More

At 48 years old, Le Perigord features classic French cuisine in an elegant setting. Le Perigord just renovated the whole restaurant in 2011, don't forget to come in and take a look at our beautiful new decor. The New York Times calls it "a French restaurant the way French restaurants used to be;" complete with starched white linen tablecloths and exemplary service from wait staff in tuxedos. In addition to tableside service of Dover sole, duck a l'orange and rack of lamb, the traditional fare also includes such staples as individual beef Wellington, quenelles of pike, coquilles St Jacques and kidneys in mustard sauce, and don't forget to leave room for the fabulous souffles and the legendary "temptation trolley" of desserts which always includes such timeless favorites as tarte Tatin, chocolate mousse and floating islands. The extensive, award-wining wine list includes a fine selection of both old & recent vintages, all at sensible prices.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
