Service was good on this Sunday morning. We ordered two American breakfast and it was horrible. Bacon was undercooked, the potatoes were hard, the eggs made incorrectly and the toast I ordered was also wrong. The "croissant" we ordered turned out to be two tiny little ones served without butter or jelly etc. Skip this place,at least for breakfast..

Opia is a bit out of the way (second floor of the Renaissance Hotel). It has very friendly service (they can be a bit slow occasionally) and very good and consistent food. Their bread is also excellent (rare enough in NY these days). A big plus is that tables are well spaced and it is an excellent choice for a... More

We choose this restaurant because we wanted an early sleep from a very early flight and we were staying at the hotel. Food and drinks were good, nothing spectacular. Service was the bad part. We had to ask for bread for the table when food arrived. Our server seemed annoyed that we were just having salads, he just didn't care... More

Stayed at the Renaissance recently. After attending a performance at Carnegie Hall, we walked back to our hotel for a couple of glasses of wine. Our bartender couldn't have been ruder. The bar menus were practically thrown at us and every question we had was an effort. We had a couple of drink coupons as we are Platinum Marriott members.... More

We were staying in the hotel and were too tired to go out......what a good decision! Some of the tables have comfortable banquettes with cushions, so you feel relaxed immediately. The staff are charming. Good cocktails swiftly served. I had French onion soup - the best ever! Followed by a lobstersalad - delicious and so fresh. There is a little... More

I am staying at the Renaissance hotel and have enjoyed the Opia bar and had breakfast here too. Opia is nicely decorated. The service at the bar was very good for our group of five. The manager was especially nice and accommodating. My breakfast was good. The eggs Benedict and potatoes could have served hotter and on a warm plate.... More

went for cocktails only did not eat. my first impression was that the lounge is a nice cozy little hiding spot in midtown Manhattan but i was put off by some of their prices and how the prices are presented. Their on line menu does not have any prices listed except for their happy hour and price fix specials. i... More

Was stoked to try this place after finding it on a top 100 foodie places. I've ticked off 4 already and they have been worthy, this place, not so much. The endive salad, while rich with the tender and lightly bitter leaves, didn't have and contrasting flavors I was expecting for example the candied pecans were probably just cut pecans... More

Fantastic food with sophisticated French atmosphere. A very good brunch and very nice people. I recommend the Crab cake and the Lobster appetizer.

Description
Opia Restaurant is a very welcome addition to New York’s East 57th Street, a secluded, comfortable French oasis in the big city. The upstairs bar, lounges and dining room range from truly chic comfort to an intimate and subdued dining room. The bar and lounge is the largest area of the restaurant, so you’ll definitely want to schedule relaxation time there. The ambience is markedly friendly and buzzing. The arched windows and high ceilings create a splendid sense of space in the crowded old city, and it is a delight. The menu is French in the style we like best these days, inflected with the flavours of all the Mediterranean. Try starter of tuna tartare with yellow fin tuna, pickled ginger, wasabi avocado mousse, mango and yuzu sesame dressing, or an entree of roasted poussin in an orange glaze, or perhaps a delectable cut of dulce de leche flan for dessert. The wine list is thoughtful and offers much choice among the affordable with almost irresistible temptation among the reserve list.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
