Belgium Fries and Beer, in a small, basic pub setting. Keeping the menu simple and delivering perfection. Helpful order taker gives samples of dipping sauces for fries. They will tell you their favorites...and they are right. Fun stop at NYU.

We are Belgian expats living in Florida, so we jumped at the chance of visiting a place making our favorite food: Belgian fries (the French have no clue how to make them). They were quite good (too bad bintjes potatoes are not easy to find in the US), served in the traditional paper cone, and the choice of sauces was... More

Really happy that I made the trek here to find this place. There was a constant line, which was great, because that meant the fries were always fresh. The counter guy was very friendly and helpful. He was very generous with sauce samples (smart business move-I was going to stick with the free ketchup, but ended up getting the Vietnamese... More

I might be spoiled coming from Portland, Maine where there are the second best fries in the country (Duck Fat), but I really did not like these fries. They were too thick and not salted enough. The saving grace were the sauces, specifically malt vinegar and truffle mayo. Those were the only things that made the fries worth eating. I... More

Still the best fries on the planet and the array of accompanying sauces is mind boggling. A bit more room than the old location and easier to get to (just a couple blocks from Washington Square). Large portions, always hot and fresh. You can never go wrong. Trust me.

Fries were tasteless. We spent a fortune and ordered every dipping sauce. More than 2/3 of sauces were inedible (too weird, too overpowering, etc). Only a few sauces were decent, such as Curry Ketchup Especial (Frites Sauce, Curry Ketchup, & Raw Onion), Pomegranate Teriyaki Mayo, Sweet Mango Chutney Mayo, Honey Mustard Mayo, TLC (The, Lime, Chipotle), Vietnamese Pineapple Mayo. The... More

Sooooooo delicious!!! Real potatoes salted just about right. Lots of different dressings, too many choices. You can always go with classic ketchup, mayo and mustard in case you can make a decision. Totally worth it.

I had wanted to try this place for a long time. I almost couldn't find it, and was on the point of giving up when I stumbled across it. It's a very small takeaway-style establishment with a counter and some seating. The neighborhood it's located in borders on what looked to be a rather sketchy area; I wouldn't come here... More

Great poutine, large bowl for 2 cost 12$. For other fans you have over two dozens of different sauces.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
