Look there are hundreds of places to eat in the East Village. There are lots of choices when it comes to Latin influenced menus. This place has got it right. A young team that takes service seriously, a great bar with all the right compliments to the food on offer. We started with the freshest Guacamole served with tomb stone... More

Friendly and accommodating, with wonderful food and surprising flavors. Taco dinner for 2 was spectacular and offered a chance to taste many different items.

Had dinner and noticed many people were drinking frozen mojitos which are very popular. Food and salsas were good and unique. Looked liked a very popular happy hour.

The owner greeted us personally on arrival and we had a lovely meal. We had guacamole and shrimp cocktail which were both good, then we had fajita and skirt steak tacos which were all delicious and served with a smile. also try the LES drink which was awesome. Highly recommend El Sombrero.

We had a large party and they easily accommodated us. The food was great, and the staff was very friendly. Great place to relax and enjoy a casual meal - with lots of gluten free choices

Asked for kid menus and waiter said yes we have tacos, etc , etc in a smaller version for kids, at the end we were charged 27 dollars for three half tacos . Watch out for a tricky menu with hidden specifics extra charges. Great black bean soup, tacos and fajitas mediocre.

The margarita was big and strong. My friend and I shared the mixed taco plate which was for 2 people but the serving was quite small especially from what we have experienced previously in the US. It tasted above average but I've had better. The chocolate lava cake was OK as well but I've also had a better one of... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
