We called ahead and were told we would probably have a 15 minute wait, it was early and a Sunday, so we cabbed over. Well, 15 minutes was more like an hour. We would have come a different night if that was the case. What...More

There are a few of these restaurants in New York. The one on 18th street is the Old America restaurant and it's large. The space in the bac has a skylight ceiling and while it may be too bright for some, it makes for a...More

This is an expensive (I think) restaurant. The food is excellent, but we only come here for drinks and the bar food. There is a daily (I think) bar food menu. The guacamole is excellent, as are the margharitas. We come here every time we...More

Rosa Mexicano has great margaritas, I think the rock version is slightly stronger. We ordered the chicken taquitos, which disappeared in seconds. We also ordered the 'nachos' and we were very surprised with what was delivered. It is actually 3 large taco sized tortilla chips...More

Visited for dinner with two colleagues. Restaurant was busy but we got a spot at a table in the bar. Food was good although after a while I found the mole poblano a bit boring - starts ok, but once you run out of other...More

We came for late lunch/pick-me-up and enjoyed the margaritas by the pitcher. Fresh, made at table guacamole and choice of salsas got us started and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves... appetizers and tacos satisfy without breaking the bank.

The guacamole made at the table is absolutely amazing and very generous portions. In fact the 2 of us could probably have stopped eating right there! Having said that main courses were also delicious. And there's a great buzz about the place.

Yes, yes. Rosa Mexicano does tableside prepared guacamole like whoa. They take requests. Spicy? Or nah? Whatever you want. We didn't even bother this time around. Dinner on a JAM PACKED Wednesday evening was still great. A whole Last Supper table (13 across one side)...More

Description
Just blocks away from Manhattan's lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell and launched in October 2005, this stunning restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.
