Authentic NY pizza in a renovated cathedral. Cool atmosphere. Had the pizza only so can't recommend anything else

This place was recommended to us by a friend who travels to New York about once a year. We popped in mid-afternoon after walking around Times Square and the theater district. The location is an old church and you can still see some of the architectural features. Service was efficient but our waitress was not the friendliest. She even gave... More

John's Pizzeria was recommended to us by one of the Gray Line bus tour guides. It's a really nice restaurant with an upstairs level and a kind of old feel to it.It's actually been in existence some time,it's well known in New York and consequently can get busy. It's one of those places where you walk in and wait to be seated.However... after a long day of travel from the west coast, we were able to find this place easily, relax and have great pizza and then walk back to the hotel. Service was very good!

We ate here on the recommendation of our tour guide. The pizza was excellent although I would have prefered to order by the slice instead of a whole pie. They did accomadate us by making a half and half and it was delicious. Our server was Victoria and she did an excellent job of serving us. I would definetly go... More

Decided to hit John's after a long day of touring the city. Convenient location if you're around the Times Square area. I got the small, Margherita with prosciuto - it was heavenly! I'd tried Lombardi's the day before and it's very difficult to judge which is better but I'd give John's the edge (don't stone me Lombardi's fans). They also... More

We were recommended this place by both our tour guide and hotel so thought we'd give it a go. Although it was fairly busy (being so close to times square) we were given a lighty-uppey-coaster for when a table would be free and were estimated 25 minutes. almost exactly 25 minutes it flashed and we had a table. We chose... More

We were expecting a great NYC pizza experience and were sadly disappointed. The service was poor. We ordered cheesy garlic bread and regular bread was tossed on our table before the server disappeared. There are no refills, so we ordered a pitcher of soda. It wasn't enough for two people. The pizza was greasy and we were out of drinks... More

The setting was very nice set in an old church, with a very unique character. Service was excellent. You can watch them cooking the pizza. The pizza was the best I have ever had the portion was monstrous we could not finish it. The meat balls were nice also. Well recommended by our concierge, and she was not wrong.

Established a long time and living on its reputation. We ordered pizza and pasta and waited for over 30 minutes, while others arrived, ordered and were served. We were about to leave when my hubby's pizza arrived ,but not the pasta. Had to ask waitress to chase up. They gave us our drinks complimentary by way of apology. We ent... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
