Just got back from an overseas trip and my wife felt like having for a change Chinese food. What I like about this restaurant is that they have good service, table cloth and napkins (not made out of paper tissue) in addition to well an assortment of well prepared dishes. I had the pepper steak and pickled / sour vegetables... More

Cafe Evergreen can save you a trip to Chinatown or Flushing (although it is not as much fun), but the food makes up for the trip downtown or to Queens.. It is really great for freshly made Dim Sum, which they serve all day. It is friendly and accommodating. They have a huge variety and if it isn't being passed... More

Ordered via Seamless Web. Order was on time, warm, and correct. Sesame chicken was very good. Pan fried pork dumplings were smallish, and not too tasty. Chinese broccoli we ordered turned out to be bok Choi, which was either their mistake, or how they define "Chinese Broccoli". I'm guessing the Food is probably better when eating there, but delivered food... More

We eat here regularly order-in, take-out and dine-in and this place never disappoints. The service is excellent if you dine-in. After only eating there once a while ago, the waiter remembered my extra hot sauce preference my next visit several months later and when we bring our toddler, they bring water in a plastic cup with a straw right away... My family and I have been visiting this great oasis Chinese restaurant in Upper East Side for years, and have been completely satisfied each time. Frank, one of the owners, is gentlemanly, gracious, and funny. The staff is very attentive, bringing my favorite XO sauce even without asking for it. The diverse dim sum dishes are always fresh and consistently... More

NYC has arguably the best Chinese food in the US. And I've eating at the best of the best in this city. But none can compare to Cafe Evergreen. Th fabulous and creative food is matched by the ambiance, decor and terrific service. It's on the upper east side but well worth a visit if you're in the city.

At it's new location several blocks north on First Ave, Evergreen continues to serve outstanding Chinese food. A standby for many years, the new more modern decor is attractive and the food as good as ever. The calamari was crisp and tasty, the mushroom and fried tofu was covered with flavorful dark sauce. I loved the noddles and the spicy... More

We went to this place for a family dinner. The service is great, nice and quiet location. All of the food was excellent. I would recommend the dim sum, soup dumplings, kung-pao chicken, crab cakes, and egg drop soup. We ordered a lot more, but everything was top notch. I would definitely go back to Café Evergreen.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
