We knew this restaurant already when it was just a hole in the wall. Meanwhile the place has doubled in size and the block has a whole variety of Japanese places, but this place still stands out for their delicious Ramen. The secret of a good Rames is the broth and here they make the best. We have lunch here... More

Good bet for ramen in the East Village. We had the shoyu ramen and cold tonkatso noodles with pork. Both were good. The ramen broth is flavorful and noodles have an excellent texture.

Great food. First time having ramen aside from the instant kind and it was awesome. Our glasses were always filled, you were never rushed and the dessert was fantastic!

The place has good stuff, at the counter or tables. Not so loud and not as fancy or pricy as ippodo. Neighborhood spot. Tenth bowl of Ramen free.

There are quite a few ramen places along this stretch of road and area so it's hard to pick. We were actually wanted to go to Ippudo around the corner but being a Saturday night it was over an hour wait as we hadn't booked and it was about 7pm! No problem, we walked and found something else and we... More

There are no shortage of ramen places to choose from, but I promise you can't go wrong with this one. Cozy joint, good service, and very tasty food. I had the curry ramen noodle soup, and I would absolutely go back for it again. Cash only!

I always loved this place, they moved a couple of years ago in a larger spot but the previous one was bar only and I loved it. I always take the Shoyu ramen, but the Shashu is excellent and they have seasonal dishes that are worth a try.

Back after a year and it was still as I remembered. This is cash only, no reservations, and most always a not unreasonable wait. The selections are still a good range. Not a place for intimate conversations, just good, reasonably price Ramen.

Went there with friends and each of us ordering Ramen. Small place but cozy and comfortable. The soup was mainly chicken broth based, not bad.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
