What a cool place, with loads of history and life. The pizza was sublime and definitely worth a detour and a short queue to get a table. Do not hesitate to go.

Great NYC pizza experience, pizza was delicious. Our table enjoyed two pizzas, one vegetarian, the other all meat. A plus knowing the pizza was baked in a coal fired oven. Good times!

Its obvious why there is a queue here, a restaurant full of character with delicious pizza! The food was excellent, and we loved it. Thank you

There is a queue/line outside John’s for a reason… well a few reasons. First and foremost is the pizza: it’s incredible. But more than that, the place has tons of character and the staff are brilliant. We were in New York for a week with...our three kids and ended up going for a second visit on our last night. I’ve had great pizza every time I’ve visited NYC, but this place was the best yet.More

Our second time to John's and it was just as mind blowing as the first time - quick queue to wait - fast service, phenomenal pizza! The photo doesn't do it it justice - 10/10 highly recommend for all NYC visitors.

We wanted to try DiFara's in Brooklyn, but ran out of time. (see separate review) I'd also heard about John's of Bleeker, and it was pretty much on our way, so we decided to stop by and see what it's all about. I'd say the...experience was a good one. I got dropped off at 11:30 AM just in time for opening. There were only 4 people ahead of me in line, but at least 20 people inside already being served. Not sure if they actually open at 11 or what, but oh well. The wait was not that long, and the two guys working 'the street' were friendly enough. My buddy got moved twice from his holding pattern while I waited, but that's to be expected. The pizza came out hot and fresh about 15-20 minutes later, and I wasn't gonna wait til he circled the block again, so I dove in. I'd say my 4 star rating is right about on the money. I ordered the plain cheese, which presented as a thin, fresh pie with a dollop of sauce dabbed sporadically onto the top of the cheese. Not very weighty for sure, but I loved the char on the crust. To be honest, we have a few places in NEPA that compare favorably with John's, but when in New York, you should probably make the stop and try them on for size.More

Overrated. The “sauce” was literally canned chopped tomatoes that hadn’t even been cooked down, they were just put on the base as they came. Not enough cheese. Base was burned by the coal oven Outside area smelled of lemon disinfectant. Not sure why people queue...for a disappointing pie when you can walk to Joe’s on carmine for a fantastic slice.More

John’s of Bleecker Street did have some great pizza and garlic bread. I do think that it is overrated though. I had to wait for nearly an hour just to enter a very crowded restaurant. You can only order pies, not slices, which is hard...with a group of three, and the food is very overpriced. Overall, I’m glad I went, but the numerous pizza places on that block are probably just as good. I wouldn’t come here again.More

Stopped on on our last night in NYC. We were SO delighted to be able to walk up and be seated directly after a snafu on the 1 line lead to an hour long delay getting to John's. My wife an I polished off a...pitcher of Peroni while we enjoyed the arancini appetizer, and a sausage pizza. My son had garlic bread and an order of meatballs. The meatballs were way overcooked but the sauce made them acceptable to eat. The service was good for NYC, it was great to finally eat a legendarily good pizza.More

Came here on the recommendation of many local friends. We got the mozzarella sticks appetizer and a pizza with pepperoni and basil. Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. Definitely the best whole pie I’ve had in the city! The line to wait for a table...gets quite long. Thankfully the line was bigger groups and we were just 2, so we were able to be sat in the outdoor space immediately. I’ll definitely be back here!More

I'm back to John's after a few years. What to say, Covid did not change it, still a very good experience. I think it's a pop culture icon in NY, worth a visit for sure. We had a "fifty" pie... best non-traditional pizza I've had...in my life.More

This is a place my family has visited during each NYC visit, but this time we were disappointed. The pizza was fresh and good, but not exceptional. It arrived fast and we enjoyed it.... and then someone came and said people were waiting and they...wanted our table. We were at a table for 2, and we had literally been there a total of 30 minutes. Everyone around us had been there longer. Still finishing my drink. Walking outside, the line had 4 people in it. We waiting in a longer line than that. This soured the whole experience and we will not be back. Too many other great places!More

The best pizza I’ve ever had! Visited with a local who recommended John’s Waited outside in line for at least a half hour, it was a nice night so we enjoyed being outside. Tight seating inside, but adequate. Looking forward to returning!

Yes, the line is outrageous but definitely worth waiting for. The very best pizza in the city. Make sure you get there at least once.
