This is old NY served up fresh. Tiny tile floors, weaving around tables to get to ours. Most friendly manager, server and all. We were there for a Sunday Brunch and the place was well packed at 2 pm with good natured folks from young to old. Menu has something for everyone. What a wonderful, vibrant, yet relaxed atmosphere. Plus... More

Saturday afternoon and it was hopping. Server was a hoot! enjoyable fellow. I ordered the chicken, cheddar and green apple salad which was bland and boring. Dressing did not "go" with the salad, however there were no other options when I inquired. My husband had the hot pastrami on rye, with a cup of soup (split pea the only choice),... More

Pete's Tavern is a bit of an icon in my family. My father frequented this spot on business trips throughout a 30 year span, 1974-2004. He never left NYC w/out eating there and in fact new the staff well during some of that period. I was back in NYC with my family and it still performs. Nothing fancy. Tough to... More

It was a snowy afternoon we walked from our hotel and found this lovely old bar it was bustling and we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and prompt service. We had a light lunch but the chicken gumbo soup was tasty and welcoming, my burger with blue cheese perfect... Topped off with a great conversation with the main man, we... More

I was there today for lunch with my family. We ordered 2 beers each beet was $8 each and I had a toasted almond it came in a 4oz. Glass was charged $11 totally ridiculous. Waitress was bad no customer service. Good was ok. I been here numerous times before and this was a bad experience. Will never go back... More

To me, this place was what you would imagine to be one of those little neighborhood places. It's not in a tourist area but rather in a mixed office and residential area. We stopped in for lunch on a weekday so it was a typical business crowd. The fare is Italian and American for the most part. My companion enjoyed... More

This is the classic old New York Irish bar! Loaded with locals the drinks are straight forward and fair, the food the same. They have great lunch specials that are very affordable and with variety. Dinner is more expensive but the portions are large. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Popped in for a quick beer for an hour's escape from the family. It felt like every Christmas NYC fantasy I ever had whilst I was a student. Thank you. Nice small bar, good selection of ales...great vibe ...NYC...yeah.

We chose Pete's because of the informal atmosphere & the history. The author O. Henry lived just down the street & ate/drank here often. The legend is that he wrote "The gIft of the Magi" here in the 2nd booth. There are photos & articles about him there. We sat in the back room, a speak-easy during the prohibition. The... More

Historic place, great atmosphere...you can smell the history. Pete's tavern survived prohibition by pretending being a flower store :-) Very crowded but great New York vibe! Nice IPA,fantastic beer!
