I'd always heard what a fabulous place this is (correction: WAS). Mid afternoon on a Mon, barely no one there. Duck salad was questionable in its freshness. Terrible smell as you walk in from the street. Perhaps not what it once was.

I have wanted to visit since watching Tootsie and the great food and excellent service didn't disappoint. The grilled chicken cobb salad and chocolate mousse cake were both excellent. They also have a gift shop selling Russian-themed souvenirs.

Stopped by for Afternoon Tea. Great experience, a little pricey but well worth it - the food was great as was the service but the atmosphere was the thing that really made us enjoy the experience. Highly recommended.

Our party of eight went here for drinks and dessert after a Broadway show. The decor is gorgeous, red and green and gilt opulence. We had a vodka sampler -- really fun! Our waiter helped us select some interesting vodkas; others in our party had...More

This is a nice place, the location is very close to central park, so nice to drop by after a stroll in the park. The prices are slightly up there, but atmosphere and interior is very nice. The food is a variation on Russian cuisine,...More

I proposed to my wife here 62 years ago, so it was a reminiscence trip. Same wife (thankfully), same ambiance, same great service and good food at a stiff price.

I had lunch at The Russian Tea Rooms as part of New York Restaurant Week. The restaurant was not overly busy and yet I felt very rushed with food coming out before the previous course had been finished. The food was fine - nothing spectacular...More

What an experience. Opulent surroundings lovely staff. Food was wonderful. We wanted to see the glass bear on the 1st floor. It was closed as they were preparing for an event. No problem private tour organised! Really enjoyed our time spent at the Russian tearoom.

Brought my family here on a recent trip to New York. They described it as "the worst food of the trip". The dining room is beautiful and our waitress was kind, but the cost is very high for such mediocre food. Also, the restaurant was...More

Depends on which theatre. Service is excellent and if you tell them you have to be out by a certain time, I am sure they will do everything possible. We had dinner at the Russian Tea Room at about 5pm and easily made it to... More

Description
Opulent and grand, The Russian Tea Room in New York offers elegant fine dining in sophisticated surroundings. Superb continental cuisine with Russian fare is the key focus at the exquisite Russian Tea Room. The elegant interior features bold red leather banquettes and Art Deco design. Full of character, Russian Tea Room has been a cultural hub in New York for over 80 years, after the members of the Russian Imperial Ballet founded the restaurant in 1927. Full of delicious classics, the menu includes signature dishes like beef stroganoff, poached lobster salad or chicken kiev with caramelized wild rice. High Tea at The Russian Tea Room includes sandwiches and blinis along with cupcakes, seasonal scones and petits fours. A fine selection of loose leaf teas will complement the high tea, with the optional accompaniment of champagne. Close to New York's Carnegie Hall, the vibrant tradition of the Russian Tea Room legacy is still alive to this day.
