I have just recently discovered this collection of establishments. I have been to two of their locations - this one and the one down in the Flatiron. Both have a really good vibe - the staff is welcoming, the ambiance/decor is inviting and the food is pretty good. I've had fries at both locations and mussels at the Flatiron location... More

My wife and I made a same day reservation for this very crowded local Belgium Bistro/Bar right across the street from the Broadway show, "Beautiful." The show was at 7 pm so my wife made it for 5 pm. Since I live in Syosset, Long Island, I took the LIRR to Penn Station and walked a few blocks to the... More

Missing Belgian after a visit this summer, we decided to get a fix while in NYC for the weekend. Reservations easily obtained and got a pre show reservation on a Sat at 5pm. Mussels are generous - albeit small - but tasty. Fries are not thick and hearty like in Belgium HOWEVER they are cooked the same way and just... More

Stopped in on the way to a meeting for a quick lunch and was so happy I did. Fried calamari comes with a small salad garnish, which was perfect. Calamari is tender and lightly fried - more calamari than breading. Salad and dressing were a nice addition, would get a larger version next time. Will keep this in mind the... More

At 5:30-6:00 on a Wednesday the bar was a scene for which the term "Happy Hour" was invented. When we left, about 7, it had calmed down considerably. Despite the crowd at the bar in the front, we were seated immediately in the rear dining room, which was crowded but had some empty tables. Despite the numbers, service was impeccable,... More

Stopped here after a Broadway show. What a delight! Felt like being back in Flemish Belgium. Great beer, mussels, fries (frites), lots of atmosphere. Very friendly service.

We were walking down West 43rd from one diner to another (the first was too crowded and had a long wait, so the host recommended another) when we happened upon BXL Cafe. We almost walked right past it because it appears to be a bar or tavern. Fortunately, the awning says waffles (among other things). There was also a brunch... More

Quite by surprise we found this delightful spot, unexpectedly just a stone's throw from Times Square. Nothing touristy about it. Offers a taste of Belgium in a decidedly European flavor. A great brunch menu, bar menu, and a tasteful range for dinner too. We arrived at brunch time and among the four of us had a little bit of breakfast... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
