Freeman’s feels like a travel back in time in terms of the decor and the atmosphere. Food was very good as was the service. The place is hidden in an alley so you don’t stumble onto it by accident - you need to want to...More

We very much loved the atmosphere of this place! Wonderful deco, nice vibes. As a starter we had the artichoke dip which was amazing (although rich so you can easily share). Our main courses we found good, though nothing too special. Freemans nevertheless will remain...More

There were six of us and we tried a cross section of the menu. Food was good. Service was decent. Menu selection is varied enough for most. Very busy place. Service could have been a bit better for the price point. Cocktails were good. Grungy...More

Visited on Sunday for cocktails. Loved the setting and feel of this place. The artichoke dip is lovely, big surprise since I wouldn’t normally eat that. Great service. Would definitely visit again if in NYC.

The first night in New York is always a special time - exciting and fun, so I chose Freemans as an initial pit stop. For me the real star of the show is the mixologist maestro behind the bar as you first enter the restaurant....More

Very nice place in Bowery. Good cousin and gentle waiters. One of the best hamburgers in town (you can eat it just for lunch). Medium price.

We have tried Freemans after the turist guide raccomandation. Nice! The restaurant is at the end of street close to the New Museum. It offers dishes well cooked and fresh. The cesar salad is without chicken, you have to add for 5 dollars The prices...More

We visited Freemans for Christmas Eve dinner upon a recommendation. As we did not have a reservation, we were seated at a less-than-stellar table, but I think we were lucky to get in at all and the experience got better as the evening went on....More

This is a different feeling restaurant, a great atmosphere. Drinks are good. The food, however, needs improvement. The waiter managed to steer us away from some things, but no the Niçoise Salad, which was horrible. Only a few bits of tired tuna buried under the...More

Located off the main street down an alley. Very good food, excellent and attentive service. Flexible: our party of ten was delayed for our mid-afternoon reservation due to our post-NYC marathon "re-herding of the cats"... but the staff held our spot and made a great...More

Not sure I'd go, (or if they'd do that), for just coffee and cake.

Freemans makes food to order. While it's unlikely to have gluten-free bread, I think the cooks will try to accommodate dietary needs.

Located in Lower East Side of Manhattan Freemans offers a rugged and clandestine respite in a Colonial American Tavern setting. The cuisine is early American: simple, rustic and inspired by Old World traditions. Freemans is well known for beautiful artisanal cocktails and warm service.
