We found Uncle Boon's through Trip Advisor and it lived up to its stellar reviews. Food was great and our waiter, Onik, was knowledgeable and helpful.

I went to Uncle Boon's for dinner. I was told that if I ordered more than one item at a time they might all come at once. I was seated at the bar and there wasn't room for multiple dishes so I ordered just one item at a time. My first dish was a green mango salad. I expected something... More

Holy intense flavor experience. Two bites in and I was sweating, beet red, and reaching for more. Two of us shared the shrimp paste riblets, betel leaf wraps, and chicken and banana blossom salad. The riblets alone were crunchy, fatty, rich....in perfect measure. I think the dipping sauce was WAY too salty and overpowered the shrimp paste flavor. The betel... More

Hot newish spot and for a reason. It is very, very good. This is definitely a destination restaurant with flavors unfamiliar to anyone who has not travelled to northern Thailand. Because I was taken there by a friend who is a well-known food reviewer for a national magazine I let him do all the ordering. Everything was superb with tastes... More

Well this restaurant would have gotten an "excellent" rating if they took reservations and didn't have such long waits. All that being said it was worth the wait. Small restaurant with a trendy, rustic thai vibe. Food was outstanding. Everyone raved about the crab fried rice which was excellent but the short rib and the mango salad were our favorites.

Finally got to visit uncle boons and I was not disappointed. Really enjoyed the rich Thai flavors. The seafood mixed grill was great, especially the shrimp and baby octopus. The sweetbreads were good. The snails were different than your typical French style and I enjoyed them a lot, especially with a side of roti. The curry and chicken were both... More

A small rustic establishment in Soho is the home to this trendy Thai restaurant where, as in many cases, the best way to dine is to share small plates so you get to try a bit of this and that. We did just that and got to enjoy an array of very flavorful dishes. We were clearly not alone in... More

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Nolita
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
