And it was expensive! Portions are pretentiously small. Ok, I can handle the small portions if the food was actually good, but it was so bad that I rather go to a hospital or grade school cafeteria to eat my dinner. If their food is the benchmark, McDonald's would get 3 Michelin Stars. I'm not even exaggerating. Once upon a... More

My husband and I and 5 of our friends made a reservation for the Bo Ssam Pork shoulder meal that was more than enough to feed twice the number of people. We started with appetizer of the steam pork bun which had a phenomenol sauce and wasabi tendon which is not a good pairing and the wasabi did not complement... More

The food is good but we did not like the interior as it's small and they really packed too many tables in a small pace. We were surprised at the speed the dishes came out. We have a porgy fish and it's actually a whole steam fish with soya sauce done Cantonese style. The veal sweetbread is a must order... More

The duck over rice dish is great. Also the pork buns and the duck buns were great and also loved the apple kimchi. Make sure you order some lettuce for the duck over rice dish. I wasn't too thrilled though with the pancakes though - it is heavier than the Korean version. This is a very innovative cuisine at quite... More

It is duck time. I am a fan of all Momofuku restaurants. Food is always imaginative and good. The pulled duck buns were spectacular, even better than the pork buns, which are very good. The potato side dish was also great. The duck fried dumplings were good. The music was a bit loud, which is typical of the Momofuku establishments.

I wasn't as impressed with the Ssam Bar as I was with the other Momofuku options but it was good. I think the decor is better but the food seems lacking for Momofuku which is usual above and beyond. I really enjoyed my main course but everything thing else was average. There cocktails however are fantastic. They even had better... More

We were very keen to try this restaurant as it had been rated very highly in a recent survey, sadly it did not match the expectation. The seating was on benches and was somewhat basic. The menu was pretty limited but fortunately we had pre-ordered the pork shoulder, which was served with spices, rice and lettuce leaves. The pork was... More

That pretty much sums it up for me. While I am deeply in love with all aspects of Momofuku's Milk Bar, the food just wasn't great for me. As above, it was a great experience! Our service was on point. We had their famous steamed buns which were the bomb! Following that, we nibbled on some Pig Ears which I... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
