The Levain Bakery is very tiny, so you'll probably find a line when you get there. Even if you have to wait a little, I can assure you it's gonna worth it. We had some baguettes with jam, cookies and muffins - the cookies they...More

I went with my husband today and was surprised with the huge line at the door. The place is very small but the service is fast. Only few seats inside, the majority get food to go. We both got the traditional chocolate chip walnut cookie....More

Baking good were tasty, but nothing special. Everything was made with quality and the prices were reasonable. Biggest problem was the place itself. Too small for to have a cup of coffee and to sit down. Mainly the place is for takeaways. Prepare to wait...More

I visited the 74th st location for the first time this week and noted a sign on the door announcing their new location around the corner on Amsterdam. Hoping that the new location might afford slightly more room to linger indoors on a cold day,...More

It’s a good cookie, there’s no doubting that. Is it the best in NYC? No, far from it. There are far better bakeries in the city that aren’t as popularised as Levain. The walnut cookie was the best, the chocolate peanut butter was good but...More

We had friends in town and decided to take them to Levain for dessert. There was a line but worth it. We got a lot of cookies for a party later. And had some in the spot. They’re dense, rich, and delicious. Especially the dark...More

By far one of the best things I ate whilst in New York. Many cookies to choose from. Super friendly staff. I had the chocolate chip and walnut and it was super soft, chewy and tasty. You won’t be disappointed

Recently visited this bakery and would have to say this is cookie utopia. Be prepared to stand in line to buy these great cookies. The bakery itself is rather small and unassuming however don’t be fooled because these cookies are incredible. There are several different...More

Stopped at the 74 Street location to get cookies and was drooling just from the smell wafting outside from the bakery. The line was not too long and honestly even if the line is long the wait is not. Very fast moving since the bakery...More

Nestled in New York City's Upper West Side, Levain headquarters is a cozy neighborhood bakery where locals are greeted by name. A steady stream of loyal regulars stand side by side with tourists, eager to sample the legendary baked goods. From an inventive array of rustic breads to the world-famous six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie, everything is baked on-site, fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. What doesn't sell that day goes to help feed the hungry-a mission that has been solidly in place since the beginning. The bakery was founded in 1994 by friends Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes. At the time, Connie was in banking and Pam in Fashion. The two, both competitive swimmers, trained together for the Ironman and-not surprisingly, as their tireless workouts left them feeling starved for great food- they began a passionate dialog about creating the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie. Within just a few years, Levain Bakery had become a neighborhood institution and a destination for epicurious travelers from around the world. Demand continued to grow. In 2000, to satisfy their regular clientele summering in the Hamptons, the two opened a second bakery in the village of Wainscott on Long Island's East End. And today, through their website, they now ship their world-famous cookies to happy fans around the globe.
