The place has an old world kind of charm with the natural wood decor and the leatherish placemats. The menu has a nice selection of starters, salads and sandwiches/entrees/specialties. A fairly good selection of beers and ales. Interesting looking at the wine menu as it reminded me after living in California and Pacific Northwest how different it is to be... More

Very good bar with excellent "snacks" in the heart of Times Square. Good selection of beers, wines and mixed drinks. Try the chicken quesadilla or fish tacos.

It's a dark place but it's a great place for happy hour. Great bar food and drink specials. Bar tenders are fun and friendly. Always stop here when in NYC.

Located close to our hotel, the Pig & Whistle quickly became our 'local' with a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced food and a good range of ales/cocktails. We had the fish & chips the first night, then returned the following night and had the tacos. Service was prompt, food was tasty, portions a little large for us Brits but... More

Stopped in because it was close to hotel and read some positive reviews. I would visit again for a drink and a rest from shopping, city touring, but wouldn't order food. Service was okay but not extraordinary and it was too loud for me to even enjoy my meal or talk with my husband. I ordered meatball sliders, they were... More

We were staying at a hotel near this restaurant and as we walked down the street, checked out the various daily specials of each restaurant. Pig 'n' Whistle had some great menu choices so we had dinner there. So glad we did. We had the chicken lentil soup - very, very good. And for the entree, we had the smoked... More

We visited this bar for quick and easy food. The nachos were great, the burger was super fresh. I'm vegetarian and the food was better than I might have expected. It wasn't the usual churned out stuff and it was good to have something different. There was a great band playing and they were excellent. They really added to the... More

It was your typical bar food. Nothing special. Prices was at least decent and not overly priced. Service was ok. With so many places to eat in the city I doubt this place will be a return visit.

Specialties Sports Bar Live Music Brunch Irish Pub & Restaurant History Established in 1969. It all started back in 1969 at the opening of a restaurant and a bar called "Pig n Whistle" by John Mahon and Pete Mcgee. The original restaurant was located in the Old Townhouse of President Taft on West 48th street, in the heart of New York's Rockefeller Center, the friendly people and atmosphere quickly became the meeting place for New York's literary and banking elite. The new "Pig and Whistle" on West 46th Street, in the heart of the theatre district, has the look and the feel of the historic townhouse where it all began. From the red brick walls and paneling on back bar, upstairs bar that is available for private parties and balcony overlooking 46th street, "Pig and Whistle" continues to follow the same detail and style as that gracious home in Rockefeller Center. Meet the Business Owner John M. Business Owner John Mahon son of the original owner will take over the reins in the business. He has trained and worked at many other fantastic restaurants in midtown Manhattan such as Langan's, Blooms Tavern, Pig'n'Whistle on 2 nd Ave and Pig n Whistle 48 street. Helena White will also join John in the management side. Helena has been based in New York for many year where she has gained her experience in Langan's, Pig'n'Whistle 47 th street and more recently PJ Moran's John and Helena's experience coupled with their local knowledge will ensure your visit will be one you will truly remember.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
