On a rare, weekend trip just the past three days, I dined alone at Pinto Restaurant on Christopher Street in the West Village--9/9/16. The place is typically tiny for a family-run, ethnic eatery. The cuisine is Thai. It is sumptuous! I arrived about 4:15 PM Friday and was offered a "Sundown Menu." $15.00 for my choice of appetizer (from a... More

Our lunch was only $8. It took only 15 minutes to get it to go. We chose an appetizer, main and we were supposed to each get a green salad also. My husband had Pad Thai chicken, I had tofu and veggies; we were both pleased. I only ate half and save half for later. For two we got a... More

Stopped in for their sunset menu which included drink/app/entree for$15. It definitely was worth it! Large portions, very flavorful and spicy. I had the basil chicken which had a kick but was so flavorful and filled with chicken, sliced mushrooms, zucchini, greens...along with the Thai salad! My wife had the papaya salad which was light but also full of flavor along... More

One of the best Thai food restaurants I've been to. The place is small and can feel a little crowded, but it does not matter when the food itself is so good. We went on the recommendations of a local and were not disappointed. The flavors are majestic, the portion are just the right size and the price is very... More

The food here is excellent and what a bargain for NYC! The menu offers 1 drink, one appetizer and a main for $15, and the portions are normal size. We had the chicken satay and the spring rolls...they were excellent. For mains we had the red curry and pad thai and they were both amazing - you can tell they... More

Top of our list of restaurants to visit. Small place, cramped seating, but that's nothing new in NYC! The sunset menu is an absolute bargain at $15, which includes 1 drink, 1 starter & 1 main meal. They aren't shy with the portion size considering it's a deal meal. Authentic Thai cuisine, full of flavour & they cater for vegatarians... More

Had lunch here yesterday. Can't say enough good things about this place. $8 prie fixe lunch. $15 dinner. Food was fresh and flavorful. Service was good. Place is very small. Wouldn't work for large parties. Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in SOHO!

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
