It may be shabby chic but it is fun to have tea and scones at Alice's Tea Cup. The beet salad is wonderful! Just sit back and enjoy. Friendly staff. Good food.

We haven't been here in many years. We were in the city for an event and decided to have lunch here. What a wonderful treat! As charming as ever! We had the "Mad Hatter" tea to two. Everything was just fantastic but one of the best things was our server Libby. She was personable, funny, and attentive! Couldn't ask for... More

The place is cute, the food is fine. But Bohemian and eclectic should not equal dirty and run down and basically unsanitary. It is also terribly overpriced.

We had been here before on another family visit to New York and so loved it then (a few years ago) that we just had to go back. On this trip however we were met with an apathetic server that we could never seem to see or find - not for lunch menus - at 11:20 it would have been... More

Friends invited us to join them for Sunday brunch at Alice's Tea Cut on 64th Street which was near the intersection of 64th and Lexington just off the Q line of the subway. It was cozy and cute - perfect for young girls, medium girls, and even old girls. My husband would have felt comfortable but he chose to let... More

Met here to have tea with my daughters (teens and early 20's) last night. We do love to try new tea places wherever we go. We also love doing our own high tea , which is hard to beat because being of Irish descent, we make some amazing scones at home! The atmosphere at Alice's is really drab and run-down.... More

Shouldn't every restaurant have fairy wings to wear while you eat? Well, they may not be big enough for anyone over 8, but it was fun to see the little girls so excited to put them on. We loved the shabby chic decor and unmatched china. Eggs were good, oatmeal was fine, scones and tea fit for a queen, fairy... More

All the whimsy ends with the name, Alice's Tea Cup. The place is dingy and drab; the illustrations on the walls are dark and poorly done; and the food is lousy. They forgot the hollandaise on my smoked salmon benedict. The smoked salmon was ice box cold, making the eggs cold. The salmon was also rock bottom in quality and... More

I've been to this one and another one of the Alice's Tea Cup cafes, and both times I've been swept off my feet! There is so much choice when it comes to tea, and the food was so yummy. One of my favourite places in the whole world! The second time I went it was for my birthday, and despite... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
