One of the few places in Ventura County that has rack of lamb and lamb chops with mint jelly, one of my favorite dishes. It did not disappoint. Both delicious and reasonably priced, I was very happy. I hear the fried chicken is amazing there. Next time I will try it. This place is always good.

Eggs cooked to order, served hot! French toast served with homemade syrup, and huge tasty Spanish omelette. Paula is the best server bringing hot coffee without being asked. Looks like a diner place but serves awesome breakfasts at noon.

My wife and I took my mother to the Sportsman for lunch (using a Restaurant.com coupon). The setting is straight out of the fifties, with rich, dark wood prominent along with life-size swordfish mounted on the walls, and lamps shaped like ducks in flight. The menu is limited, but everything we tried was excellent, including the garden salad with grated... More

Recently went for a family dinner to celebrate the holidays. Our server was ditzy and not exactly on the top of her game, but the place itself is just tired. Old carpet and furnishings - a little dark and dingy, the place looks like it hasn't been touched since the first time I ate there 25 years ago.

If you like old school, this is the place to go. I recommend sitting at the bar which you will want to seas it is like stepping into the past. Have a drink and just take in the nostalgia. There food is good it is not fancy.

The Sportsman has been around, it seems, forever. We've always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. It's one of the few places in the area we can get good roast lamb. The wonderful tradition of the relish tray is still in place here, and the service is excellent. This is a very special place, old school, as many reviews have mentioned.... More

One of the longest lasting “ole Fashion” restaurants in downtown rustic Ventura. You’ll find charm and ambiance in this quaint little restaurant and the food is fixed to perfections. Whether you’re a local or visitor, you can’t go wrong with an “ole fashion” taste of San Buenaventura

This restaurant has been here for a long time and I have been going to it since the 1970's. Excellent steaks and prime rib for meat lovers. The seafood is good too and the vegetables are fresh. Great location to take a stroll around downtown and/or the beach and pier to settle out your meal afterward.

The restaurant/ bar is one of beautiful Venturas oldest and best keptsecrets. Located on California street, you can see the ocean and pier while entering. The bar serves hefty, delicious cocktails. The best kept secret is that this place is as much a restaurant as it is a bar. The atmosphere is of the50s, with plush comfortable booths, and ,... More
