A fun stop for seafood (fried or grilled) and famous Penn Cove mussels. The beer selection was good with lots of microbrews. Pass on the dinner salad and embrace the french fries.

We were looking for lunch about 11:30 and it looked like a nice place. My 5 year old opened the door just as I saw the no one under 21 sign and the woman behind the bar immediately started a screeching at us that no kids are allowed and we turned around and left. I won't return even without kids,... More

Toby's on the harbor of Coupeville is a legend in it's time. It has much history and wonderful ambiance...plus the local "digs" are great. Wonderful experience on the" Isle of Whidbey" Get the local mussels!!!

Toby's has a nice location on the waterfront in old town Coupeville. Has a bar plus table service. The place has a strong smell of fish, and not so much the yummy sort of fragrance of a nice fish restaurant. More like a place that has fried up a heck of a lot of fish over the years. To start... Toby's (aka: Toby's Suds & Toby's Tavern) is a comfortable and friendly beer and wine bar that serves "bar food". Menu includes several types of Fish 'n Chips (my favorite: batter fried salmon & onion rings), burgers, the ever popular Penn Cove Mussels (they sell literally tons of mussels), broiled fish, soups and chili. They offer about a dozen different... More

Based on reviews we decided to try Toby´s. It was more or less what we expected, sort of grubby and nothing fancy. . The mussels were served in a watery sauce. The service was fine. The menu has mainly fried food. Once is enough for this place.

I liked the atmosphere (bayside tavern kitsch), enjoyed the waterside window table, friendly and helpful staff, but just didn't enjoy the food. Was not a fan of the mussels and my husband's grilled fish sandwich was only ok. I will say however, that we enjoyed walking through this area of Coupeville before and after our meal- cute cute. If ever... More

Good cheap eats. Drinks were good too. This is a very popular place expect to wait for a table. We always come here when in Coupville.

A classic tavern with classic fare, Toby's is a quick stop for a solid meal. There are plentiful choices for beers and food, standard pub fare. The fish and chips are reasonable - the portion is adequate and the batter is crisp and hot. There are several choices of fish to select from (halibut was fresh). The halibut sandwich was... More

This is a local place, nothing fancy, kinda dive-bar like, but fun, nice menu, great service and delicious, incredibly fresh mussels that come from Penn Cove which the restaurant overlooks. Highly recommend this iconic little place in Coupeville on beautiful Whidbey Island.
