Stopped in Philly for a few days trying out a bunch of different cheesesteak and John's Roast Pork is easily the best we've had. Better than both Jim's and Cleavers, which are both great in their own right. Good price and huge servings. The place and staff get a bit crazy when it's busy but it adds to the charm.... More

Lifelong Philadelphian neighborhood guy here. And it bugs me no end that the Philly tourist trap places can treat you to a mediocre sandwich with a heaping side of attytude (yes, I'm talking about Pat's steaks). John's Roast Pork, on the other hand, isn't technically a tourist trap but it is a very busy place. Somehow they don't forget that... More

Long time Philly eatery that holds its own with other Philly Cheese Steaks and also has a great pork sandwich. We had one of each so that we got the best of both worlds. Be careful when ordering though as you order the roast pork at one window and the Philly Cheese Steak at another.

Awesome place! Cheesesteaks from other places may be nationally known, and not always for the food, but that's because we locals want to keep the best for ourselves. Roast pork is incredible. Very juicy and flavorful. Try it without the greens and provolone first. They also have roast beef that is as good as Chicago's italian beef sandwiches. Cheesesteaks are... More

First time at John's and I really enjoyed the fact that the place is old & worn and the people that work there are not phoney's. It's "in your face" from the minute you arrive until the minute you leave. Be prepared to get with the process quickly or you will get lost in the shuffle. This means getting on... More

While on business in Philly and heading to the airport hotel we thought it would be unfair on ourselves not to try a Philly Steak Sandwich in its home environment, a quick google came up that this small Shack consistently was awarded the top accolade - this was a scary journey for 4 guys in suits through the naval dockyards,... I lived in Philly for about 5 years and have hit up most of the well known (and plenty of not well known) cheesesteak places and Johns is hands down the best. It gets a bit more tourist traffic than it used to, but whatever, its still primarily locals and even living in the city for awhile I still feel... More

This place has been around forever, and it keeps getting better. Some people like to comment about the servers being a bit gruff, to which I say Yo stay out of SoPhilly if you can't take our attitude LOL. But seriously, as a lifelong resident, I can say that this place makes the best pork sandwich in the city, and... More

Always looking to experience local favorites when we travel so after much research we tried John's. We've done the other classic Philly joints for cheese steaks and wanted to try something else this time. We ordered the classic pork, and the classic cheese steak. I think I'm more of a fan of the Philly cheesesteak from Pat's and/or Geno's. Wit.... More

John's is famous for their pork sandwiches, but I didn't grab one while I was there. I grabbed a cheesesteak, which was okay. They use a sesame seeded roll, with a generous portion of meat and they don't overcharge for it. Seating is on par with most steak shops, and the price is in the middle of the pack range... More
