Small, low key spot offering delicious lentil soup, hummus, tabouli, etc (as well as meat dishes) food at very reasonable prices. We all ordered seconds!

Here's my favorite bitars moment: buy the zataar bread, olives, hummus and feta. Take it home and top the bread with hummus, then trader joes steamed lentils then the rest of your bitars purchases. Pop it in the oven to melt the feta a bit, sprinkle with some basil or cilantro...tada! Your new favorite snack or meal! Also, everything cooked... More

Excellent food and reasonable prices. We had the falafel sandwich and a chicken kabob sandwich. The taste was terrific. The desserts are great too. No coffee or espresso is served here. If I lived in this area, I would be here on a regular basis. Please note that this is really a mini-grocery type store with tables.

Bitar's is combination grocery store/restaurant. It would qualify as a hole in the wall place but at least you can eat indoors. They stock Middle Eastern ingredients that you will not find anywhere else. the Pita is baked fresh daily. the humus is execellent. The Baklava(pistachio or walnut) is just the right size. It is rich, buttery and honey sweet.... More

Little middle eastern deli/eat-in in South Philly. Good service, great food, what more do you want? Well, a little more room maybe, it's pretty small, but go anyway. Order whatever you want, it's all good. Definitely worth the trip.

I lived in Philly for 8 years and ate at Bitars on a weekly basis. My recent visit this past fall took me back for their incredible grilled felafel pitas. It was just as I had remembered it. The felafel and pickled beets are soooooo good! Their baklava is amazing, especially the pistachio.

For all your middle eastern food yens. Great pita, hummus, falafel etc. The sandwiches are very good & there's a playground across the street with an entrance on 9th Street if you want to get your sandwiches to go
