We grabbed a quick lunch in between meetings and enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak and the reuben mcgillin sandwich. Great service. They have been in continuous operation for the past 156 years. I will certainly return whenever I am in Philly.

This looks like an Irish Pub but the vibe is more commercial bar. The sausage platter was very good but stay away for the Irish Coffee- microwaved old coffee- yuk!

Was there late on a Friday night. Was thinking we might be able to get something to eat but with the amount of people there that was out of the question. Young crowd who looked like they all came from work. People were friendly and the staff was nice. Interesting smell to the place but it is old. There is... More

The McGillin's is an old pub (according to them over 150yrs). They have a lot of different beers (regional, american, imported). I tasted all Philly beers which were excellent. My girlfriend had some cocktails and she was satisfied. We had also Chilli Nachos. They were overbacked with a good Chilli con Carne! Excellent choice! Only the music was a bit... More

Neat place, decent beer selection and NOT overpriced. Went twice while in town. Once mid afternoon for beers which was perfect. Late dinner on a Friday was insane. Packed, about 300 degrees inside and loud music blasting. Reminded me of a frat house of college bar. Meh...too many other places for me to return when back in Philly.

SingingOT: You got to see both sides of McGillin's -- the relaxed day time crowd that includes lots of people who work in the neighborhood & at City Hall who come for lunch or happy hour and the much younger crowd who hangs out here at night, especially on weekend nights. As you noticed, two very different vibes - we... More

One of Philly's oldest bars...locals love this place. It's a real good place to get a drink while walking around the city. We stopped by to drink some Irish whiskey while playing tourist throughout Philly for the day. Nothing special about this place..just a good atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely be back for a drink

I found this restaurant near my hotel using Trip Advisor and was so glad I did! It is Philadelphia's oldest tavern which is pretty cool. I really enjoyed my food. They had a help-yourself kettle of black bean and sausage soup that was yummy. I also selected the hot open face turkey sandwich based on a recommendation from a local.... More

Popular place with the locals. Went on a Wednesday and it was Karaoke night and the place was packed and the crowd was young. Food was good and their house beer was on special for $3. Can't beat the price. Will return at some point.

This place definitely felt like a hometown hangout! The food was fantastic and the service was good. It was a Saturday afternoon, and it was louder than we were expecting, but it was fine.
