Even though the tavern is a little crowded, the experience is worth it. The food is very tasty. I recommend the spit roasted chicken.

What a neat place for a family to eat! Down in the basement next to candlelight, where it is cool, sitting next to a spring well. The food was delicious and more than enough for lunch! Love the little gift store next to it!
The food is a little pricey but well worth it. I asked for a medium rare burger and it was cooked perfectly. It is the oldest building in Gettysburg built in 1776 and has an early 1800's bar.
The building is the oldest one in Gettysburg and the staff and service is excellent! I highly recommend dining downstairs in the tavern,the atmosphere is wonderful!
