Stopped in to Gertrude's for lunch while visiting the BMA. Place was packed so make a reservation. I sat at the bar which is first come first serve. You can choose from the regular menu or a specials menu: sandwiches to entrees. I started with a delicious Maryland Crab soup and then a delicious Catfish Po Boy sandwich. The food... More

Thank you so much for letting us know about your visit to Gertrude's. Delighted that you enjoyed the food but so sorry that we disappointed on the service. The Matisse exhibit has been an incredible boon for the restaurant and so we have been so busy while the exhibit is open. Of course, that's certainly no excuse for not putting... More

I went to see the fabulous Matisse-Diebenkorn exhibit today with an art buddy and we ate at Gertrude's (my first time here, not hers). Fortunately, we had the foresight to make a reservation when we walked in, since the place was packed. This is a much more formal restaurant that I am accustomed to for a museum, but the white... We went to see the Matisse/Diebenkorn exhibit at the BMA and decided to stay for lunch. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the Christmas season. The food was very good. Among the dishes we had was a yummy potato-leek soup and a crab soup. Two of us had the prix fixe lunch at $25.00 which was a bargain. We got... More

As you would expect from a restaurant in the excellent Baltimore Museum of Art, Gertrude’s features a lovely dining room with a beautiful painting on back wall, attractive dining chairs and Parisian-style fabric covered banquettes. Soft jazz fills the air as you settle in for a fine meal. Describing itself as Chesapeake Cuisine, Gertrude’s is no ordinary museum restaurant. It... More

Thank you so much for your kind words. We're so delighted that you enjoyed your meal at Gertrude's and that it was a deliciously "crabby" dinner. Hope to see you again soon and yes, definitely come during the summer when the outside dinner experience makes the crabs even tastier! More

Two reviews in one! We had made a reservation for dinner at Gertrude’s for Tuesday with Gertie. It was a cold and rainy night. It would have been easier to just stay home, but we did not. We were delighted and enthused when we stepped into the restaurant. It was elegantly decorated for the Christmas holiday. The entire dining room... More

First, if you haven't gone, go to Gertrude's: the art museum atmosphere makes this distinctive, including an unobtrusive jazz duet. Service is mature and on the ball. The impressive menu is among the deepest you'll see, plus changing specials, to boot, at a mid-price point, including a worthy weekend brunch. A colleague and I found the signature (big!) stuffed French... More

Thanks so much for letting us know you enjoyed your trip to Gertrude's. Our jazz duet does help to make brunch all the better. And thanks for letting us know about the honey cream cheese in the French Toast! Will definitely check it out and see what we can do. Please come back soon. Have a great holiday! More

Even the setting is enticing, as Gertrude's is in the Baltimore Museum of Art. We enjoy brunch or dinner there a few times a year, when we come to the city to meet friends or when we're visiting the museum or Baltimore events. Gracious dining room, outdoor seating in mild weather, with a consistently friendly and professional staff. All very... More

We usually eat at Gertrude's after hearing a concert put on by the Baltimore Chamber Jazz Society. The restaurant has always provided good food and service. They offer a large selection of small and large plates, sandwiches and salads. We will return after the next concert.

We were happy to get a reservation for brunch because we had heard so many great things about the restaurant. It lived up to and exceeded our expectations! Food was amazing. Between the four of us we had the Sweet Potato Hash (which was a special), Gutman Avenue Eggs, Stuffed French Toast and Buttermilk Waffles. Everything was awesome, and service... More

Seven friends and I met here one Sunday afternoon for brunch. Service was very good, the food variety was excellent and the prices reasonable for its location and offerings Located in The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) which is free except for special shows the artistry of the food competes with the non edible art. My crab omelet was excellent.... More
