Went to dinner on Easter to the small cozy restaurant. The service was great our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of the food. The drink special was the cantaloupe snowball that did not disappoint. Nor did the food our dishes ranged from jambalaya to NOLA chicken with a wonderful sauce to a heaping serving of mac and cheese with... More

Great meal and great service. We had chicken gumbo and jambalaya and both were excellent. We also had amazing crab cakes as an appetizer - best ever.

The New Orleans-inspired dishes are never a disappointment. This was not our first visit, and this time we tried the shrimp po' boy (on previous visits, we had had jambalaya and gumbo). Service is attentive and helpful. Be aware they're closed on Mondays.

When you go out to eat at Ethel's Creole Kitchen you can expect copious and delicious food. Last night was the fourth time we ate there and once again we very much enjoyed our food. I recommend you bypass the appetizers and just order a main dish. It is lots of food. We particularly like their Gumbo and Jambalaya served... More

Had not had Jambalaya in years. Highly recommend the shrimp they were large and fresh and also cooked with fresh vegetables. While I am not a huge sausage fan it is a staple for this dish and it was excellent. Very large portion can feed more than one.

My wife and I just had another great lunch at Ethel's. We both had the Seafood Gumbo, which was delicious. I have also tried their Jambalaya on a previous visit, which was also amazingly good. Jeff (one of the owners) is very warm and welcoming. The chefs prepare wonderful food and all the other employees are great, too. We have... More

The food was amazing as was the service. The prices were great as were the portion sizes. They have inside and putside seating. Make it a must stop in your travels.

Wonderful meal! From the crab cakes to the divine oysters, to the ribs and the shrimp creole the meal was delightful. We had the crab dip to start and every taste from there was better than the last. We shared everything so we could savor every bite. The drinks were unusual and a perfect start to the evening. Try the... More

We visited Ethel's for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. It is a casual place in downtown Mount Washington. I specifically wanted something that was not the usual fare and this was perfect. First I have to complain about the bread. It was so warm and delicious that I ate way more than I should have and just destroyed... More

We serve an innovative mix of Cajun / Creole cuisine and local Maryland fare that utilizes both Chesapeake Bay and New Orleans flavors. From sweet corn to blue crabs, rockfish, shrimp, crawdads and more, the delights of these two regions abound and the heritage of preparing the local fare runs deep in the culture of both regions. Just as summer in Baltimore would not be complete without a crab cake or picnic of steamed crabs smothered in Old Bay, neither would any trip to New Orleans be complete without a sampling of Gumbo, Jambalaya, or a Po'Boy. We have dubbed our food Maryland Creole Cuisine. Items such as Crab and Shrimp Gumbo, Blackened Rockfish, and Pan Fried Oysters with Remoulade are just a few samplings of how wonderfully the flavors of Maryland and Louisiana blend.
