For those looking for an awesome memorable culinary adventure "Chive Sea Bar & Lounge" is the only choice that I would recommend in Savannah, GA. I traveled up from Daytona Beach Florida to join my princess and soulmate for the weekend. We stopped by early and met Will who was behind the bar preparing the facility for dinner. I told him being a restauranteur who has owned & operated over 60 restaurants that this was one of my all time favorites world wide! Will was kind, interested and offered us some direction to show up a little before 5, which Kelly & I did. We arrived chose our favorite table and the evening began with Champaign, followed by a bottle of Spanish Alberino. Will guided our culinary safari in a way like no other. Pairing Sea Crap bisque, Chilean Sea Bass, Scallops, complimented with amazing vegetables and mushroom risotto what else could one ask for in the palace set for my princess. Will was not only kind, considerate, knowledgeable, professional but absolutely a delight to be with. We have since exchanged personal information and will keep the touch until my next visit in the next few months. Will was the epitome of a book I recently wrote called 'The Spirit of Hospitality" for you cannot train someone to smile, or have a positive whatever it takes attitude or personality. Will had it all & that is my go to whenever I feel right at home. Service first, quality of food & beverage 2nd, atmosphere 3rd. The serve at chile is over the top all because Will is such a passionate server, he lives in the shoes of those he serves and takes them to the moon & back. Way to go Will. You have hooked us for life at Chive Seafood Bar & Lounge. Kelly & I are looking forward to seeing you during the holidays when we come back to town. Keep up the good work, for you are the real deal & made Chive very special for our anniversary celebration. With Kindness & Kudos, Respectfully, Larry & Kelly

WOW! This is how every restaurant should be, but very few are! We came here based on Trip Advisor rating and were not disappointed! Our server, Will, struck the perfect balance of being attentive but not overly intrusive or disappearing once food is served. He made us feel welcomed and cared that we enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious! Hub had calamari (cooked perfectly—lightly breaded and not rubbery) and I had Caesar salad with a twist of bits of prosciutto and walnuts. The portion was large so shared with hub. He had prawns over risotto that he loved and I had shrimp cocktail and a side of risotto. I was ecstatic when the shrimp was presented 1) cold 2) peeled and deveined—so much nicer to eat that way! And omg the risotto was delicious—they did not scrimp on cheese! It also had some asparagus and tomato in it. We also appreciated the ambiance was casual and noise level was conducive to conversation. We definitely recommend and we will be back!!

This was our first dinner in Savannah, and it really made an impression. We were seated in a comfy banquette across from the bar. I ordered the mushroom salad, expecting a little dish - it was huge, a real salad, covered in mushrooms. Super tasty, generous, and interesting. The only downside was that I was too full to finish my sea bass, which was also a large portion, absolutely perfect, flaky, sweet. My husband loved his octopus appetizer and his filet mignon. This is the kind of place that makes me think i should eat out more often. Savannah food is excellent, and it's not at all limited to Southern fare. Chive is a great example of what Savannah offers.

916940839 Chive is a convenient in-town restaurant at which I had a good dinner. The super high rating on Trip Advisor, however, had raised misleading expectations, especially about decor and food quality. The place is a turn of the 21st-century storefront, nothing special. And in a seaport known for seafood, only the daily special (high priced and not on the menu) was fresh caught and locally sourced. The menu and atmosphere could have been duplicated pretty much anywhere in the country. To be fair, I did get the special, local grouper, which was well-prepared, though I did not particularly like the very bland "curry" sauce -- which was recommended for every dish on the menu. And my server, Sebastian, was personable and excellent. But even though the place was half-empty, I was asked to wait at the bar, and they tried very hard to sell me expensive cocktails. Not the experience I hoped for at Savannah's #1 rated establishment.

We made lunch reservations on a Saturday, celebrating our anniversary. There is a $30 no-show fee per person, fyi. We were greeted, wished a happy anniversary by young host, and sat at a table in the back. Given ice water and menus- pretty decor-plush and sparkly. After 10 minutes, we asked the host walking by if our server would be by, and he said yes, but he was busy with two other tables. He came, a few minutes later. He was apologetic, stating that they were understaffed. Did not acknowledge our anniversary. We ordered since we had plenty of time to review limited lunch menu. It took 10 more minutes to get my glass of wine. The food arrived about 20 minutes later. Our waiter checked on us once to see if everything was okay. We noticed that he was also doing all of the bartending for the restaurant. I understand odd days when a restaurant is understaffed, but if you are rated as the #1, or one of the best eateries in a city, wouldn’t you let people know out of courtesy that you are understaffed, or not take as many tables if you can’t provide proper service? The food came hot - but nothing amazing. The 34$ crab cake with fried green tomato was tasty, but not worth the price at all. Pink House much better!

We felt like a herd of cows rushed in and out, hard to spot or waiter and he never checked in with us. We had to ask someone else for another drink and for our bill at the end. Food was fine but felt like it was very small portions for a very large price

I was excited to go here, given all the hype. The atmosphere is very nice but initial service was extremely slow , we ordered two different delicious sounding martinis and after much anticipation they were pure sour mix , no other flavor. We had to send them back they were undrinkable. We ordered apps that came before our drinks . Oysters were good, the stuffed chicken was dry, the tuna was fishy, mussels were a mixed review from us, personally I did like them. By the time our drinks showed up we decided to not get any main dishes and cut out losses. I do have to mention the host was lovely. Very friendly and helped us out several times.

First, I sat for 10 minutes without being greeted, at the bar. I had just stood up to leave when I finally was greeted. Decided to give it a shot, the place is so highly rated. Had a perfect glass of white and was ignored another 20 minutes. I’d been on a flight all day so I was ready for a meal at 9 pm. Ordered based on a guest sitting next to me, the Chilean Sea Bass. 30 minutes later, still no food and only half hearted apologies with no explanations. Every other guest at the bar had been served (and they ordered after I did). Bartender assured me twice the food was coming. I finally broke and told the staff how tired and upset I was. Poor thing, I don’t think anyone had ever told her the truth before. Food finally came 5 minutes after the kitchen closed at 10 pm) and it was amazing, of course. But nothing could make up for the pretentious, aloof service. Other bartender presented the check, offered explanation (finally, sea bass had to be cut), but it was all too little too late. Wine was comped, which I was sincerely grateful for. If you are solo, older (50ish in my case) and look like an average person, go ahead and skip this place. You’re not cool enough for them.

Reservations not possible as table allocation is based on the principle "First come, first save". The ambience very stylish and the demarcation with the curtains ensures more privacy. The table lovingly decorated with flowers. The appetizer "mango walnut salad" very appealing served and a huge portion. For the main course I chose "halibut with crab filling on top". Again very appealing served. Taste both top, a real experience. The service attentive but not intrusive. A clear Recommendation.

This is one of our most favorite restaurants in Savannah. The atmosphere is awesome and the wait and bar staff are the absolute best. They are very attentive to the customers and it is obvious that they are truly concerned with you having the best possible experience. It is a great place to sit at the bar and meet locals and travelers alike. It is also very entertaining to observe the bartenders as they master their craft creating and shaking fabulous cocktails! The food is also scrumptious, including a few of the menu's hidden gems such as the orzo, spring rolls, scallop pings, stuffed chicken, mussels, and she-crab soup. They also have the best side of vegetables! We love Chive! Shout out especially to Pax, Willa, and Stephanie!

We had dinner at Chive on a Wednesday night. We had reservations and were seated quickly. The menu isn't large but still has a nice variety. We enjoyed the food.....it was fresh and well prepared. The sea bass was excellent. Service was good and prices comparable for the area. I am not a fan of the additional fee that is added for the kitchen staff. They should be paid appropriately with the cost added to menu prices.

This spot is perfect for a casual night out with friends or an elevated date night. Either way you choose the ambiance is immaculate from the low light to the lounge style seating. The craft cocktails are made not to just indulge your taste buds but they are also beautiful. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. Our server, Oshay ensured that our experience was one to remember. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave VIP treatment to each table he approached. We will be returning and adding Chive to our night out rotation.

I will simply say that they left me without food. They served the rest of the table and my plate did not arrive. Then they explained to me that my plate was not ordered and that it would take another 20 minutes so that if I wanted I could eat something else. incredible, seriously. So I eat whatever they want. It was a mistake by the waitress but no one apologized. It would have been a nice gesture if they brought me something around the house and an apology. On the other hand, none of the employees there cared about me.

We had an incredible dining experience at Chive! The muscles in the coconut red curry broth were unbelievably tender and delicious, maybe the best we have ever had. The bread that was served with it was warm and perfect. We also had she crab soup, which was full of crab meat and was rich and so good. I had the sea bass which was recommended by the bartender and the server, as being the most popular item on the menu. It did not disappoint and came out, perfectly cooked! Hubs had the special which was Branzino stuffed with crab meat, and served with an edamame and asparagus risotto. It was out of this world delicious! Not sure which entrée we loved the most, but they were both beautifully prepared. Pecan pie for dessert was also as good as the entire meal. Our server was excellent, knowledgeable and attentive. They made a great Old Fashion and had a good wine list. The only one that I was disappointed about was that I ordered a Paloma and saw that the bartender used canned grapefruit juice, which is never very good. He apologized for not having fresh grapefruit, and said he could bedazzle it a little bit, so he did. It was better, but still not a great Paloma. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy and we loved the nice touch of the comfy pillows being in the booth. Overall, it was a top notch dinner all the way around! Dinner for two with tip was about $250 + another $35 at the bar for two cocktails and we enjoyed every minute of the evening.

You need to eat here. And when you do, ask for Will. There are so many things to love about Chive - the fact that they don’t take reservations so you can walk right in, the seafood forward menu with so many interesting, delicious dishes, and the excellent service with knowledgeable and friendly servers who set just the right tone. We’d eaten here before with friends, but decided to try someplace different for date night, so we made reservations at a place down the street, but that place turned out to be dreadful so we headed to Chive and we were so glad we did. We’ll go here first next time and skip the others! We were so fortunate to have Will as our server tonight. He quickly set the tone, put us at ease, and made sure we had the best date night. He knows the menu, he’s obviously very experienced, and he struck just the right balance of being attentive, but not intrusive. We started with cocktails and the cheese board. It was a beautiful presentation with lots and lots of excellent cheese, plus fruit, crackers, and honey comb. We split the mango and walnut salad which had lots of great flavors and plenty of crunch. For dinner, my fella had the tuna ceviche which was loaded with flavor. I had the prawn cocktail- they peeled and deveined the prawns and even took the tails off!!! They paired it with a cocktail sauce that had just enough heat to make it interesting. For dessert, we shared the sorbet. The vibe and people watching at Chive are great and each staff member we interacted with was helpful and friendly. So do yourself a favor and head on down to Chive, ask for Will, and prepare yourself for a fantastic experience! Cheers!
