Our food was very good. We had the calamari and tuna tacos, all very good. We were seated quickly and waited on quickly. Our waitress got sat 3 tables at once but the rest of the staff jumped out there and we got our food in a timely manner. The owner was busy working also and seemed to be a... More

We stopped at Driftaway cafe for Lunch after leaving from Wormsloe Plantation and right before our trip to return back home to Florida. It was the perfect place to end a great weekend getaway in Savannah. The food was delicious, I had the catch of the day and my husband had the firecracker Shrimp and both were excellent. The ambiance... More

A friend recommended this cafe and we were not disappointed! It was a nice day so we ate on the patio. Great, friendly waitress. We had the tuna tartar appetizer and it was divine! I had the salmon BLT with pesto sauce and homemade chips and it was also excellent. We will definitely return when we are back in the... More

There was a post on April 15, 2017, a guy wrote complaining about a braised octopus dish that he complained about saying it was skimpy. I was there the same night we ordered the same dish and was blown away at the creativity and taste. For octopus it was nice and tender, not chewy or fishy. It came with potatoes... More

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a five star review here on Trip Advisor! I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our Octopus special. It was so popular last weekend that we are running it again this weekend. It is hard for me to decide what I want for dinner tonight myself. Fresh octopus is hard to... More

Met with friends on Saturday April 15th to listen to Nathan Sheppard who was great. Awesome relaxed atmosphere and great food. Had the octopus special, it's rare to find a place where it isn't chewy and this is that rare place, so glad I gave it a try because I was not disappointed. Our server Lucy was super busy but... Thank you for taking the time to give us such a nice review here on Trip Advisor! I am glad to hear you enjoyed the Octopus special. Chef John worked in one of the top Greek restaurants in Philadelphia where he mastered the technique of octopus which can be a tricky dish to prepare properly. I will happily commend him... More

Obviously this is a place locals frequent. Everyone in the place seemed to know someone except us. Food was spectacular but service was slow. Go relaxed, casual and just enjoy. I ordered fried oyster and spouse had firecracker shrimp. Huge order! Started out with blue cheese chips. Highly recommend- homemade chips with blue cheese, sour cream , green onions etc.... More

Thanks for taking the time to give us such a kind review here on Trip Advisor. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your shrimp and oysters. We source as locally as possible and like many other restaurants these days we like to boast "Farm to Table" but even more proudly we boast "Dock to Dish"! I apologize for slow... More

We were looking for a place for Easter Sunday breakfast before going out to Wormsloe Historic Site. We stumbled upon Driftaway and were glad we did. Excellent breakfast with a relaxing view.

First a disclaimer, we are frequent diners at Driftaway and have enjoyed meals that were almost always very good and often excellent. Our last visit not so much so. I ordered the grilled octopus, a special, for $20.00. When it arrived I found a plate with a lot of potatos and mushrooms and 5 pieces of octopus each smaller than... More

Don, Thanks for taking the time to give us a review here on Trip Advisor. Also for the disclaimer that as frequent diners you have enjoyed meals that were almost always very good and often excellent. Our grilled octopus sold out this weekend to rave reviews. It is a five ounce portion (industry standard is 3-6 ounces for plated proteins)... More

We dined on a recent Friday night. It was busy, however, the young hostess cleared a table and we were seated promptly. There is inside seating as well as seating outside both in front and in a lower garden. Very nice. The menu features a variety of fish dishes, and a few meat. My husband ordered the fish and chips.... More

Description
Driftaway Cafe specializes in "casual coastal cuisine" with an emphasis on flavor and fun!

Driftaway Cafe was created out of the desire to serve the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses fresh local seafood in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Our vision was to offer our guests a quick bite to "eat out" or the opportunity to stay and "dine" whether or not it is a quick taco with a cold beer or one of our featured nightly entrees with a nice bottle of wine. We were set to open on September 11th, 2001! What a horrible day that was for all Americans. We postponed our opening so that terrible day would not be our anniversary. Needless to say, our first year was quite a challenge, but with the support of God, friends and family we continue to strive forward everyday.

We specialize in made to order fresh local seafood dishes, fresh garden salads along with a variety of appetizers and sandwiches. Our talented Kitchen staff showcases their skills with nightly entree specials. We are known for our friendly atmosphere and our fun environment. We feature live music a few nights a week and have been blessed with a great staff and a regular repeat clientele!

Driftaway Cafe Is a locally owned restaurant located near the Wormsloe Plantation and the historic Isle of Hope. Owners, Robyn and Michele, have been in business together for the last two decades in Savannah. They work hard as a team and have developed a great staff that have been taught to treat each person that walks through the doors not as just another customer, but as a guest in their own home. They work hard to instill a passion for food, fun, flavor and family into everyone they meet!
