Got a takeaway, the mushroom sauce was so slimy it was really awful. Bland, tasteless and I won't be back

An ok place to eat, but would recommend getting single rice/noodle dishes per person rather than multiple dishes to share with rice (more expensive). For people looking for a nostalgic taste of home though, this may not be the place for you!

Called in a take out order. As this was first time there, I made it very simple -soup, egg rolls, fried rice. The wonton soup had no taste and the dumplings were very soggy, disintegating into the broth. The egg rolls were very soggy but tasted OK. The shrimp in the fried rice were tiny and some not even whole... More

On the up side, Chef Chow's has been going for years, and prices are still very reasonable. On the down side, the menu is as dull and mediocre as ever. If you want a quick bite of second-rate Chinese, it's fine. If you're looking for a good place to eat, eh.

I come here whenever I visit my friend who lives nearby; I always used to eat here with my mother when I lived in Brookline. There are several lunch items, all of them generous servings. Such items are the ever traditional sweet and sour chicken with either pork or vegetable fried rice, savory white meat chicken chow mein, vegetable or... More

My friend and I had lunch on a Tuesday at 2 pm. Drinks were good and we both had the luncheon special. You get soup, appetizer, rice and entree with the specials, which are served until 4 pm. I loved the sweet and sour soup, crab Rangoon, vegetarian fried rice, and Peking ravioli. My friend had wonton soup, crab Rangoon,... More

Chef chows was a nice place to go to have good Chinese food in a quiet environment. After trying a few hole-in-the-wall places around Brookline it was nice to have space and quiet. The service was good and the food can fairly quickly and while not gourmet Chinese, it was yummy.

This is a big place with tables and booths and quite comfortable for an evening of family or friendly conversation. This is not haute cuisine, but some of the dishes are still quite excellent-- we always get general gaos chicken and the spicey string beans. The fried dumplings are good, and some of the large shrimp dishes are also very... More

This is my favorite restaurant in Brookline. We always go there for great Chinese food. The portions are huge and the prices very reasonable. The servers are very polite. My mother won't eat anywhere else! We have celebrated her birthday there for years. And they offer luncheon specials every day (even on weekends). And they will add or subtract ingredients... More

The food is pretty average, not super great. But the prices are good, cheap drinks, and plenty of space in there. If you are in a group or have kids that run around and are all buckwild this is not a bad choice.
