After reading so many positive reviews, my retired husband and I ventured out on foot on this cold nite with vague hopes of getting a table in this authentic sounding pub. We lucked out that tables were being freed as we arrived! We were warmly greeted and handed brandy snifters of Guiness while we waited! It was a nice crowd,... More

My wife and I had to do a last minute wedding and approached Matt Murphy's only a week before about 30 of us having a reception of sorts at their place. I spoke with the owner/manager Snowy and I can't even begin to tell you how incredibly accommodating and positive she was. The day before, we picked out some appetizers... More

Loved this truly neighborhood place. Great pub atmosphere. Try the poutin. Some of the best I've had including in Canada. Very cozy for a chilly evening. Surprise of free oysters on Monday and they were excellent. Great drinks and beer selection. I'll definitely return next time I'm in Boston.

If you are looking for an authentic "Irish Pub" experience, check out Matt Murphy's... The food was very good and the service was excellent. The ambience is somewhat understated but there is an overwhelming sense of "welcome" here. I enjoyed the fish and chips entree which was served in a newspaper wrapping package...nice touch! We enjoyed drinks, some delicious Irish... More

Lunch at 1pm on a Sunday. Nice hearty food -- not generic American fake-pub food, but hearty brown bread, ox-tail soup, etc. And not Ye Olde Anything decor, either -- slightly funky, and yet feels very down-to-earth and real. Too bad it was only lunch, so we didn't sample from the bar.

I ordered a fish sandwich that came with french fries and a pickled onion. The fish sandwich was surprisingly good and the fries were very good. I washed it all down with a local vodka (one only). The vodka was very nice and the pour was fine. For lunch this was place was pleasant, quiet and friendly.

This is a small, intimate Irish pub with consistently good pub food and interesting cocktails. Note that they offer free oysters on Mondays 5-6:30pm and only accept cash.

Having arrived in the area a few hours before and tired after our transatlantic flight we were looking for something nice and easy within the area. Looked up a few local restaurants in the sea and this read very well.Walked past a nice Thai restaurant which only had 1 couple in there and found Matts place further up , candles... More
