Clean, friendly and good food. Nice patio in back overlooking harbor. Not many choices for the non fish lover, yet some sandwiches.

This deli is located right on Highway 61 as you enter Grand Marais from the south. The parking is òn the street. There are lots of soup, chowder, sandwich, seafood and salad options. The coleslaw and crisp french fries are very good. The walleye was great. The prices are very reasonable (under $10). Many sandwiches are $6.50. The deck outside... More

This little Fish Market has become a must-stop at place for us every time we're even near Grand Marais. Our last visit on our fall trip this Sept. was just as good as always - fantastic fresh trout chowder and fresh caught fish. We decided to get our food to go and took it back to our rental cabin. However,... More

Hey I passed this joint a couple of times on my way to the northern woods and I decided to stop with my wife to try the fried fish. We had clam soup and cheese soups and they were super hot, tasty, and well seasoned. The walleye fish was crispy and juicy but required a bit of salt. They forgot... More

This place is the real deal....Each day the menu varies based on what the fisherman caught that morning. We ate there quite a few times when we stayed in Grand Marais for a week. There is a porch off the back to sit and eat. I suggest the Whitefish-Fish and Chips. However, everything there is amazing. Fresh as it gets..

We stopped by for Friday night dinner. We both had the fresh white fish & split a bowl of fish chowder, both were outstanding. We opted for the coleslaw instead of chips or fries. The coleslaw was just OK. They have a great selection of beers. We sat on the back deck which looks out over a warehouse area and... More

We had lunch at Dockside on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy and was listed as a favorite in some of the travel mags. We enjoyed a salmon strip basket and a walleye strip basket. The fish was very fresh and niceIy breaded and the portions were large for a reasonably $10-ish price. I thought they could both have used... More

Went to Angry Trout and had Fish and Chips one night. Went to Dockside Fish Market the next night. The Dockside wins, hands down, on quality, quantity and price. The only negative would be the "experience". Dockside requires you to order at the counter, take a number and wait. Angry Trout has service staff. Let's move on to the next... More

Fresh herring taken just hours before from Lake Superior is delicious, not overly breaded or greasy and the portions are generous. The prices, by Grand Marais standards, are very good. But what you may not know is that the chowders they make are superb! There are usually several to choose from. Obviously their seafood (salt water fish and mussels) chowder... More

There is definitely a reason that this place has a line! Their fish basket lunches are fresh and delicious. I had the whitefish and it was great - and their fries are actually beer battered and wonderful as well! They also offer fresh and smoked fish to take so bring a cooler. They offer fresh, fried, and pickled herring -... More
