We had such a great meal here, that we signed up for their cooking classes for the next day. Happy to say I'm going home with a bunch of new recipes, my favourite being homemade peanut sauce. Thank You smiling Buddha !

I first heard of the Smiling Buddha from some friends of mine who discovered the restaurant by chance on a trip to the Amed region of Bali one time and they raved about it and recommended I go as I was due to visit the area. My daughter and I were staying in a nearby fishing village and decided to... More

We drove our scooters from Candidasa to Amed and decided to take the coastal route. Along the way signs with 'Smiling Buddha Rest' started showing up like every km or so. As the ride was pretty intense we thought it would be a good idea to eat and rest there for a while. And I'm glad we did! Best Nasi... More

After I went snorkeling at the Japaneses shipwreck I went just 1.5 km to Smiling Buddha which is a beachfront restaurant that offers fresh, local, organic food. Some of the food you can see being freshly picked from the garden for your meal after you order it. There is both traditional Balinese food and international cuisine. They also offer a... More

We went to the Smiling Buddha Cooking Class and had a fantastic time. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn a bit more about Balinese Cooking.

For those staying at this bungalow paying $100+ a night, maybe 150k / person on lunch is reasonable, but quality has to be considered. I had chicken which included 10% tax, and received a boiled piece of frozen chicken and rice, with no flavor or vegetables. Even the chicken came as one solid piece rather than cut up and marinated.... More

This is a nice place on the coastal route to make a stop for a drink/bite on your way from/to Amed. It's located right on the coast and is part of Meditati Bungalows. Unfortunately they were renovating the rooms when I was having lunch, so the noise was quite disturbing.

We have feasted here several times. For me, it's always ayam/chicken Bling Bing, as exotic and tasty as it sounds. This restaurant has a wide variety of local health juices, and an extensive, but not always cheap menu. The staff are ultra friendly and helpful. The ambience is terrific, with no tv or internet interruptions. It has regular tables and... More

Smiling Buddha is a few minutes away from Amed, but it is worth it. Very friendly staff and good food with a view over the sea makes it to an relaxing area. Beside the "Indonesian standard dishes" they have also delicious organic healthy dishes/drinks.
