This was a great place to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a table of 10, and Rosie was an amazing server. The cocktails were all delicious (martinis, St. Croix Old Fashioned--with rum, espresso martini, and Posh Spice). Rosie's wine pairing recommendations were also spot-on....In smaller groups, we coordinated lots of shareable plates. Highlights included the beet salad, octopus, risotto, gnocchi, kale fall salad, beer tartare, and foie gras puffs. My favorites were the octopus and risotto.More

This is a very special place with unique food and drinks. They feature shareables in smaller and larger portions, including some amazing pasta dishes. Our favorite was the Yolk-filled Raviolo - one very large ravioli - which we had topped with sauteed morel mushrooms. It...was amazing. The gnocchi was also quite good. The chitarra says it has calamari on it, and it probably does, but just a small amount. For the larger plates, the jerk rabbit has a striking jerk flavor, and the bison short ribs melt in your mouth. The chiffon cake is a tasty dessert. They have a variety of cocktails, beers, and wines. Service is good. We will very likely come back.More

We loved this place! The menu was pretty limited but everything we had was fantastic. Good ambiance, it was a very nice leisurely meal. Our waitress did a great job in timing the meal so we weren’t rushed or waiting for the next dish to...arrive. Totally recommend.More

Hubby and I were there to meet up with a friend. Because of Covid, the menu and service was limited which was fine. We started off with drinks, my cocktail (made with peach shrub) was really good. Our food was served in takeout boxes. I...had the burger which was way over-salted. Hubs had a pork ragu which he didn't enjoy that much. Our friend had a salad and the grilled veggies. Her salad had some wilty bits in there. Staff seemed nice enough and we enjoyed sitting outside.More

Appalling service. Having booked a table two weeks in advance we actually had to leave without having received anything - not even a welcome.

Ate here with our nieces and nephews for a pre-Christmas party. The food was excellent. Well thought out and beautifully presented. The menu was interesting, the restaurant is similar to a Tapas restaurant, but not completely. You can certainly share all the dishes, or you...could choose to have a more traditional meal. This is not an inexpensive restaurant. Not a large restaurant, but able to accommodate the seven of us at one table. The services was a little spotty. My wife and I sat down and waited to be asked about a drink. During the wait our server came by did not say a word. She then returned to serve two of our party their drinks, then didn't bother to ask anyone else at the table if they wanted something. Came back by and my nephew had to flag her down. However, after that initial slow start she was VERY friendly, also knowledgable, and helpful with the menu. Her pacing of the food was well done. On to the food. Some of the things we ordered were as good as anything I have eaten in a long time. Other things were good, but small portions made the dishes seem a little expensive.More

Food was delicious but our server, Steph, was pushy and non responsive. Would not go out of her way to explain menu or serving amounts, etc. Rude in fact. She brought the payment to the table and the most information she gave us the entire...evening was the suggested tip amount while watching us enter the total amount. I feel that she needs to earn her tip, not demand it. Would not recommend. When you spend $400 for dinner... you expect service. Not impressed.More

Have dined here several times and always enjoy asking the staff for drink (cocktail and wine) and food recommendations. Each time, their selections are not what I would typically pick, and are better than the ones that I would choose on my own. The octopus...and pig's head small plate was fantastic (and I'm not an octopus fan) and the clams were delicious. The only advice I have is some of the small plates are large enough to share, and some are not. I would handle the small plates tapas-style, order a few, then order a few more if you're still hungry. It's also a place to review the menu first if you are dining with vegetarians, picky eaters, or folks on a low-calorie diet to make sure your guests will be satisfied with their choices.More

Cozy little spot on the East side of Madison. Fun tapas type menu, great for sharing. Wine selection was good.

My family and I ate at Pig on a Thursday night in mid-September. There were 5 of us, my husband and I, my almost-90 parents and my close-to-senior sister. I chose Pig as our festive meal, since it offered interesting food that stressed finesse in...cooking and presenting a plate. I was sorely disappointed. We ordered 5 dishes and were told that the kitchen would cook them as if we were sharing; no choice about that! We changed our order to add extra scallops so everyone could have one. The first dish out was the charcuterie and cheese platter which was well arranged and the only dish that was good value. I do know that everyone can arrange good charcuterie/cheese platters in Wisconsin with little effort. We then had a few courses in quick succession. There were 2 "good" dishes and 2 "very poor" dishes. The good dishes were the octopus and the scallops. Both were very tasty but flawed. The octopus was far too small to be shared by even 4 people; I got 3/4" of octopus and a half of a fingerling potato. 6/10. The scallops were very well cooked, but were marred by dried out pork belly on top. The butternut squash and cippolini onions were introduced to the plate but were not on it. For 5 scallops we paid $50 for the plate. A truly amazing price for these scallops. 6/10. I should have sent back the next 2 dishes, and I would have if my parents weren't there. They tasted awful. The agnolotti was a square of pasta filled with stuff. It tasted nothing like the pheasant and mushroom advertised and tasted of just generic stuff with a bit of onion. I couldn't discern any tarragon and it was just a bland pasta parcel. 1/10. Now on to the real disappointment of the evening, the foie gras mousse. Once I saw there were serving mousse in bombolini [sic] I expected crispy, savoury bomboloni piped full of foie gras mousse and garnished with lardo. Instead we got bomboloni that were both doughy and leathery at the same time with a minimal smear of mousse and lardo. Really poor; 0/10. My husband loves cocktails and found Pig's cocktails overly complicated and not very good. I found a wine list that was European to be off-putting in a country that produces excellent wine of its own. This restaurant has concepts but it doesn't have delicious food in a comfortable environment. At $50 per person, it was a failed concept for me.More

We tend to be rather conservative diners. Upon recommendation from Hotel Indigo front desk staff we ventured to the restaurant. Our impulse was to not dine but we took a risk and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Well not inexpensive the taste of the food...was well worth the price. Steph was our server. She was most helpful. We even bumped into her at farmer's market the next day. She took the time to shout out to us. The coincidental meeting on the following day was most joyful as we were able to again tell her how about our positive experience.More

The website says vegetarian friendly but there are only two dishes without meat. It's family style so you have to order 1-2 things from each section (3 sections, so you're expected to order 3-6 dishes to make a meal). So all I could eat was...olives and beets for dinner. It was all very over priced and a complete dinner for two people couldn't cost less than $100. We just got drinks and left. Very disappointing. I'm sure for a meat eater it would have been very tasty and expensive, but I feel like they tricked me by saying "vegetarian friendly" all over. They offered to saute some veggies and pasta but that sounds like something I could make at home and not worth the $30 I would have paid for it.More
