We were walking E. Johnson St. admiring how the street has come alive with new businesses, when we came upon The Spot. It was a Friday night which is such a busy restaurant scene in Madison but we were lucky and they were able to...More

Nice cozy and small restaurant with a short and focused menu that assures fresh food and consistent results. We were 3 and everyone enjoyed their meals. Portions are generous leaving you satisfied but not stuffed.

The Spot has great food and a pleasant atmosphere. You can bring a family or come as a couple or whatever - works for everyone. In warm weather the outdoor seating is nice. A good choice anytime.

This restaurant was so good that I was inspired to write my first Trip Advisor restaurant review! As others have said, the chips, salmon (excellent!), flourless chocolate cake, and every single thing we had was great. Our server, Mark, was one of the best servers...More

Everything was great... the place is nice, it's simple and cozy! The beer and wine selection were modest, but good, and the food was delicious. Our group had the Gorgonzola chips, the ciopinno, the salmon & mushroom risotto, the steak and the root vegetable salad...More

Our small party had the ciopinno, salmon and mushroom risotto. Oh, and we started with those incredible chips and some shrimp cakes. Do not deny yourself -- get those chips. Add the bacon. You will be so happy. Each diner liked his/her choice. Speaking for...More

We stopped for dessert and had decaf and their luscious flourless chocolate cake. We hope to get back to sample more items on the menu. The service was terrific!

Great, fairly sophisticated food in an unpretentious atmosphere at reasonable prices. I had the shrimp cakes appetizer and maple glazed salmon entree and both were excellent. My wife had the roasted vegetable salad and cioppino (seafood soup) and said they were "fabulous."

Returned for s second visit. Just marvelous again. Small cozy warm atmosphere. Nice service. Highly recommend. Clam chowder, mussels and chopping. All perfect. Excellent baguette slices. Finished by splitting a Carmel sea salt sundae. Yum.

The Spot is a well hidden gem on Madison's East Johnson Street. Specialties include seafood -- the Sea Scallops with cucumber melon salsa and creme fraiche are a crowd pleaser, featuring three perfectly seared U12 scallops. Another critic favorite is the Saltimboca-wich -- chicken, sage, chevre & prosciutto with aioli. Most diners don't leave without sampling the fabulous house-made desserts. The bar is a destination on its own, with offerings for all who enjoy a fine libation. Choose from 5 craft beers on tap that rotate often, a well curated wine list. Don't miss Half Price Happy Hour Monday-Thursday 5-7 pm! Established in 2013. In the building that housed the former Mildred's sandwich shop, The Spot retains the old east-side charm with handsome custom woodwork & an open kitchen. The guiding principal behind The Spot is simple; upscale dining in a casual atmosphere. The service & prices reflect those values.
