There is a line out the door at peak hours for a reason. The ice cream here is legit. Lots of great flavors! Cash only, FYI.

This is a great spot to get some good ice cream. It is a local spot, not in the touristy part of town. The owners are good people as well, making the ice cream On the premises. I also love the coffee which is of high quality. Can't go wrong With Creole Creamery.

This is great, fresh ice cream. Things to know: 1) cash only; 2) one case is devoted entirely to chocolate ice creams (!); 3) there are regular flavors, but also inventive, occasional flavors. Try the lavender honey - you won't regret it. Red velvet cake ice cream is delicious. There are also sorbets and a couple of sugar-free offerings for... More

This funky little place has a quirky vibe. Its neat to see the ice creams being made right behind the glass partition. There is a ton of flavor choices from the usual to very quirky. The molasses / oatmeal cookie tasted just like a rich, freshly baked cookie. The sampler / flight is a great option to get a smaller... More

I can't give more than 3 out of 5 because it's just an ice cream shop. True, they have some really interesting flavors but I don't think the taste is out of this world. I had the creole cream cheese. It was different and good, but not amazing. I tried the honey lavender and it was way too sweet for... More

The ice cream is very creamy, but the flavors are just way too weird. An example is lavender honey. It tastes just like it sounds. Not good. We ended up having to taste about 5 flavors before we found one we liked. I also prefer chunks of chocolate or nuts in my ice cream. The flavors here are mostly smooth.

The Creole Creamery is in an old McKenzie's on Prytania and they (make and) serve some of the best locally made ice cream around. The selection covers the traditional flavors as well as others like salted caramel plus the seasonal assortment like king cake. There's sundaes, floats, cones, cups, bowls, sodas, coffee and more. Make it a tradition to take... More

Every time we go to NOLA we visit the Creamery. Awesome, awesome homemade ice cream. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
