Lets start off with BACON Happy Hour - yes, with a title like that you already know this place is going to be enjoyable. We went 2 nights as the first night was so good with so many menu items to try. We did a few wine flights (excellent way to sample some great vinos), ordered a few items each... More

I stopped in after the Super Bowl finished. It is a smaller place, but I was easily able to find a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and ready with recommendations. I had the warm goat cheese salad, gumbo, and crab cakes. Everything was wonderful. I only wish I had saved room for dessert! I visited this lovely... More

Had staff dinner here the day before a meeting, and after clomping around all of New Orleans all evening, I was ready to relax for a bit. We were seated at a quiet table outside, where the weather was perfect and the noise level was just right. Everyone loved their chosen item and we all raved about the baked brie... More

We went to this place twice so far, because we enjoyed it so much the first time. It is one of the few places we found in the French quarter that had a great wine list. We chose to have a flight of wine, which was $15 for three small glasses of wine. We ordered a cheese platter and had... More

Great place for wine, cheese, and cheer. Staff was friendly and polite. A nice quiet get away from all the shenanigans on Bourbon St.

The Grapevine is a wonderful, quiet little restaurant on Orleans Avenue across from the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. Pam and Earl are the owners and you may just see them when you visit. The food is wonderful and the staff is superb. I had their bbq shrimp and gumbo. Both were very tasty. I strongly recommend the Grapevine.

My wife and I went here yesterday for an early dinner after hitting Bourbon Street in the afternoon. I had been here before and enjoyed it, thus the return visit. What I had failed to appreciate on my prior visit was the interesting mix of atmospheres. Inside, depending on the time of day, it can be quite bustling and lively... More

We stopped in here after a performance at Preservation Hall, and were delighted with the calm, sophisticated atmosphere so different from the drunken cacophony of Bourbon Street. We sat in the garden terrace in back. Service was wonderful. My gumbo (with a complimentary side of crisp bacon, by the way) was great, and my wife loved her baby spinach salad.... More

The food was good, but when I go to New Orleans, I always expect outstanding. It was also a little pricier than I believe the atmosphere warranted. We sat in the back courtyard, which was really cute, but we had several sightings of a rather large rat. Realizing you can't keep them from outside, it was still disconcerting. The server... More

We are glad you thought our food was good as most people do. Naturally, we cannot cover every cuisine available. There are over 1800 restaurants in New Orleans and if you were looking for something different you would not have trouble finding it. As for the rat you saw in the courtyard, unfortunately, New Orleans is like every major city... More

We researched many restaurants prior to this, our first trip and received a number of recommendations from friends who had previously traveled to NOLA. This was not on our radar, but our concierge at our hotel mentioned this place when we said we wanted something a little more casual and quiet for our first night. Turned out to be a... More

This beautiful two-story building was erected in 1809 by Antoine Angué where he opened the Vieux Carré’s first Creole Bistro called, The Restaurant d’Orleans. Today, the property is owned by the noted local business team of Pam Fortner and Earl Bernhardt. Lovingly renovated with its prestigious past in mind, The Orleans Grapevine continues the tradition by offering discriminating diners the best in fine dining and an extensive wine list in a beautiful, intimate yet relaxed atmosphere. We feature many unique and seasonal special dishes & specials.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
